I have never given Cass Stag bars but I bought some at Crufts............... the ungrateful wretch just pushed one with her nose and walked off!!!!
They cost a lot in comparison to chews etc !!! Am I going to have to give them away . Any ideas how to tempt her to chew them ?
-
If you soak them a little it might encourage her to start on them...I've heard it releases the smell.
I never have that problem, mine love 'em :D
-
Or a smear of peanut butter on the end perhaps?

Pops could care less about hers too, we've tried soaking it. I heard of someone who sawed theirs in half lengthwise and their dog got much more interested.
-
One of mine couldn't care less about them, he doesn't rate them at all (but loves hide chews and pizzles). The pup, on the other hand, after a slow start (I mean a few months) really tucks in, he started with the cut ones, but now chomps happily on the whole ones.
I'd say keep them around for a while, either in the toybox or offered regularly, and let him discover them for himself.
Luckily they don't go sticky and nasty when chewed, and don't smell.

Try a light smear of marmite or peninsula cheese.
I hate predictive text (!) What I meant to say was primula cheese.......
-
My 2 don't touch them either but all of the fosters i've had seam to love them.
-
Ozzy wasn't keen at first, but we soaked one in water overnight and it seemed to do the trick. He loves them now, although he has phases where he doesn't touch them for weeks, but then remembers he's got them and give them a good old chew over the next few days. :005:
-
William and Louis have a good chew every so often then ignore them. So I sometimes put them away for a while then get them back out again and that rekindles their interest.
-
Mine weren't at all interested so gave it away. However, Willow is partial to a whole skull with antlers on if she can find one >:D
-
Clover will only chew on hers if I sit on the floor with her and hold it still for her - it makes for a nice sort of togetherness though! :luv:
-
Bingley didn't 'get it' at first either. We filed it a bit and a little smear of peanut butter. Now he loves it, Nell is becoming partial to them to!
-
Gosh.................... whole skull with antlers. Just got a mental picture of Cass dragging one thru the undergrowth, suppose a change from horse poo :005:
Will try your suggestions but I fear a" give away" is on the horizon
Thanks everyone
-
what size did you get? i initially got sandon a medium which he wasnt interested in remotely - I tried soaking it but it didnt make an ounce of difference however he much prefers his large one as he can get to the inside of it easier so much prefers it

Beau does exactly the same!
-
It may be a medium size. It doesn't look like she could get to the inside. She has sniffed at the centre but not shown any other in interest
-
Never had a problem here but Jaybee has suggested peanut butter :P All I would add is to carve a little marrow out and fill it with peanut butter of primula cheese just to get yours interested :D it's worth a go :004:

Tried it when we got the stag bar a year ago. Peanut butter licked off. Stag bar remains un-chewed.
Some dogs just do not like them - period :lol2:
