Wondering what you need to do to be a stud dog and what type of things would they be looking for . I'm really new to this and hoping to learn from those that have done it before . I know there are tests needed, but are these just at your normal vets? And what are they for ?
My Winston is a show type , orange roan . Lovely lovely boy unsure if good example as I dont show him but I think he is a good one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated , thanks y'll

also this one (on health tests)

Is there a particular reason why you are considering this?

After checking out the links above, I would say ask yourself what your dog's genes would do to benefit the breed?
For example, my youngest worker is going to be used at stud assuming he completes his health tests successfully, mainly for agility dogs, but also for some going to work in their field. He is small, lightly framed, so perfect build for an agility dog, very high drive and is showing huge potential in his training, he also trains as a gundog and is also doing very well, as well having a fantastic pedigree behind him. So you need to look at what your dog will pass on that is desirable for a show type cocker.
