One of Archie's favourite pieces of contraband has always been my pillow. When his guarding was really bad (about a year ago now) I had to put my pillows on top of the wardrobe as soon as we got up. Oddly, he never touched them during the night. Nowadays he is fine while I'm getting up but if I go into the bedroom at any time during the day I must watch him. Sometimes he will grab a pillow and shake it near me, expecting a game of tug but sometimes he grabs it and freezes if I so much as look at him, (danger signal) either way, I leave the room and ask him to fetch it for a biscuit which he will always do and give it up immediately. Anywaaaay, today he grabbed one and froze but something about the look on his face was different so I decided to ask him to leave it. He did. Immediately!  He then walked over for a mahoooosive hug. This is the first time he has ever given anything up without a treat being involved. I have never lavished so much praise on a dog in my life! We practically ended up dancing round the bedroom together.

Your post really cheered me up! I remember reading your post after you'd just had a really bad day (finger incident) and now you've achieved so much it's bloomin brilliant x
-
Well done you.
It's a massive sign of your consistency that he was willing to fetch without a treat being present. It's a huge measure of how much he is able to trust you, depsite his anxiety about possessing things.
Can completely relate to how good it feels! :D
