Do any of you give yours raw eggs and if so do you see a difference in their coat? I have been told it will condition their coat and make it shiny.

Many raw feeders feed an egg or two a week, including shell, as part of a balanced diet. Eggs are almost a complete food for dogs, containing protein and lots of vitamins and nutrients, plus calcium if you feed the shell. Mine have the occasional one with their raw food but I don't feed them regularly, not for any particular reason though.
You'll probably have to crush the egg the first few times to get your dog used to the idea of eating it. I had a few quizzical looks from my two the first couple of times as they weren't sure what to do :005:

Yes. Don't know about the coat difference - but they're good for them regardless ;)

Same here, Coco has a raw egg once or twice a week ;)

Yes, mine like them but haven't seen any change to their coats either.

Same here although Pearl recogises the sound of an egg being broken and will appear at high speed from wherever she was for hers...irrespective of whether it was for her or a cake (16 Christmas cakes gets expensive when you have to feed an egg to your dog for each batch of cakes baked ;) ). I do try to limit her to a max of 2 a week, more for calorie/weight control though. She loves a raw egg and does have a shiny coat :D not certain if the 2 are connected as others have said!

yes - but he has a very soft mouth so this went on for a fair while before he dropped it :lol2:

Sue and I used to find egg shells on our kitchen floor all the time when we lived in Scotland, then one day the culprit was found my three year old son Robert was taking them out of the fridge and throwing them on to the floor for our Cocker Henry. Henry's party trick was to retrieve eggs with out breaking them, I guess my son had seen this and was helping.
Teal has a couple of raw eggs a week including shell and occasionally scrambled with a cooked fillet of trout if I have one spare, this being her favourite food.

Thanks everybody, did not realise you could give shell as well. Mine will eat absolutely everything, never a problem introducing him to new food :D
-
My lot love raw eggs....preferably still warm, stolen from the chicken coop

I always said if Ruby worked she would have a very soft mouth as she carries/parades her egg around and takes ages to deliberately crack it.
She much prefers scrambled though, if she hears me beating an egg she's there waiting. :005:

After giving Kasper raw egg twice a week have noticed a massive change in his coat. The main change being his coat does not tangle up like it used to as it is in such better condition and with much more of a shine :D

Mine are all wusses - they have thier soft boiled! :005: Or perhaps it's just me - can't stand the sight of raw eggs! Come to think of it, I don't like cooked eggs either, but my dogs love them! :005: :005:
-
all three of mine love them, but my lab is the worse she will lick the bottom of the jug whilst i am beating eggs for an omelette. Again, she will run from any place in the house if she hears me get an egg out of the fridge.
-
I feed mine raw eggs up to 3 times a week max. Mine don't naturally eat the egg shell so I always let that dry out the use a pestle and mortar to grind it to a powder then sprinkle over food.

egg lovers here, never a problem wondering what to do the yolks when just using the whites :luv:
