We've just got home with our beautiful new cocker, Lula, from the Many Tears rescue centre.
She was spayed just two days ago and we were given instructions not to bathe her for another 8 days.
Trouble is she really stinks of kennels/pee!
Any ideas how to get rid of the smell without compromising her wound/stitches?

Groomers coat conditioning soothe and improve spray masks lots of smells. I spray it on my hands and then smooth it onto tilly back. Smells lovely. Hope yours recovers well. :bigarmhug:

We have some Groomers spray for Daisy that we use to freshen her up, it works great!

Can you just wipe her smelly bits with a damp sponge? You need to ensure you don't get her wound wet though ;)

i have a 'dry shampoo' from PAH which comes out foamy, squirt some onto my hands then rub into jamie's fur it smells lovely and neutralises ammonia odours according to the bottle!
8 days isn't long! you'll soon be able to give her a nice warm bath :luv:

Thank you for all your advice!
I'll pop up to PAH tomorrow and see what I can find.
She's so adorable, I can forgive her being whiffy

congratulations! :clapping: and welcome home Lula (Primula?) I'm so pleased for you all and Alfie :D
Can I suggest an old fashioned 'lick as my Nan would call it? Face flannel, bowl of water and a lot of patience - will be a lovely way to bond with her too..... assuming she likes a warm damp flannel ;) won't remove all the smell but may help a little. That way she won't be at all wet and you can control where the flannel goes - not near the wound.

That's a great idea too. Might give that a go in the morning.
Yes she was Primula at Many Tears but we didn't fancy standing on the back doorstep shouting 'Primulaaaaar' :005:

Congratulations :luv: on Lula, just posted on your other thread. She is so pretty, and I am so pleased you have her, I had spotted her on the MT site, I have a soft spot for black cockers. And I would go for a warm flannel or baby wipes, if you have them.

I was going to suggest a dry shampoo. As said above just be careful not to get anything in the wound though. :)
