Title: Opinions gratefully received :)
Post by: CockersIndie on February 12, 2014, 01:36:56 PM
I'm fairly happy with this month's groom. She looks so grown up though! Any comments/opinions/critiques gratefully received!

By no means any kind of expert as my own spaniel resembles a small, black yeti at the moment, but I think she looks great! She's so shiny :)

Same here! Hudson is going for his first ever haircut tomorrow incidentally. Nothing technical to add  :shades: but she looks like a beautiful little lady  :luv:

She looks lovely, I wish I could do as good a job as that at home.  I struggle with getting the tail in proportion and was interested to see what you had done.

I don't do an awful lot to her tail. I sort of being all the hair underneath into a bunch and cut it as a hairdresser would- so along my fingers. It makes it sort of straight at a diagonal.

Thank you everyone, I can never quite get her front right though!

She looks lovely. I am no expert but think her head, neck and top body flow into one beautifully. Our previous cockers were docked and I never knew what to do with their tails. I was leaving them too long. I now cut them in proportion with their feathering and now they look much less 'bottom heavy!' ;)

And what is wrong with her front?

She looks gorgeous and has a wonderfully shiny coat. Had I been doing it, I would probably have tapered the tail just a little more, but then I used to groom for a living. Think you have done a great job though.

Well there front has gone better than usual. Managed to smooth it through better, still probably needs a bit of smoothing out. And her front legs never look 'show' standard.

I shall have a few more snips at her tail to balance out a bit more, thank you.

But thank you for kind words. Dipsydoodlenoodle thank you- Charlie always looks stunningly presented.

I think the tail is personal preference, but I'd shorten it too, but that is my preference.

Thank you  :luv:

I'll take photos if OH is around next grooming session for what we do with front legs if you'd like? I've also got done videos saved that are quite good. When I'm in the computer I'll PM you links to them :)

Looks fab!! Yes personally I would take the tail down too a bit more to balance, but if you like it leave it. The front looks good. Do you use thinners to define the shoulders!? The legs look lovely. Lovely job !!  :D

Yeah thinners wherever I cut really!  She is currently drenched so looking a lot less refined!!

Thank you, means a lot! I've learnt a lot since I started but always wanting more. Thanks everyone for your comments :)
