Title: Thornits
Post by: Olwen on February 15, 2014, 05:53:10 PM
Hi, Blod's ears have some of the dark brown waxy stuff when I wipe them out but she isn't scratching or shaking her head. I've bought some Thornits but I am unsure of dosage. Should I apply it twice a day until no more waxy stuff or once a week as a sort of maintenance dose? What do you think? My old springer had terrible trouble with his ears and had numerous operations, I would hate Blod to go through that.

You should clean and dry the ears prior to dusting Thornits around the ear  ( not down the ear ) I use a small paint brush to dust with. Ollie has his ears done about once a month. Thornits is a prevention powder so it s important to buy a good quality cleaner first.

I have alwys put it down the ear. I used to put a small amount on the tip of a teaspoon handle and let it slide down, then massage in. I only used it when the ears looked dirty. Our two previous cockers never suffered from ear problems. I am only just starting to use it on the present two. Since I stopped using Advocate their ears seem to get dirtier.
