I took Jeffrey for his puppy check and first vaccination today and she said he has a faint heart murmur :'( they said they will check again in a couple of weeks to see if it's gone. Has anyone else had this with an 8 week old puppy and had them grow out of it?

Yep my Minstrel had a faint heart murmur (rated 1) at approx 8 weeks and he did grow out of it by about 12 weeks or so. As a precaution I did try not to let him get anxious.
Hope your little man is ok (btw when I told the insurance company - they said they were not too concerned at one so low)

Yes, Coco had one at her first appointment - it is quite common in young pups I believe. She grew out of it and now, and eight and a half, she is still fine :D

Thanks for your replies. I'll try not to worry too much about it then and just keep my fingers crossed it's gone on his next check up. I do feel a little better knowing others have had it at that age but grown out of it.

Just back from taking Jeffrey for his second vaccination and was told his murmur was still there :'( Got to have him checked again in a couple of months to see how it is. My poor boy :'(

There is still plenty of time for the murmur to go so try not and get too upset (easier said than done I know)
If it is any consolation my cavalier was diagnosed very early in life with a murmur and lived a happy, healthy life and you never knew that there was a problem.

We had a puppy that had a grade 1 heart murmur at his first check up but by 5 months it had gone.
Mocca my little black & tan came to me at 7 months and she had a grade 1 heat murmur which caused her no problems she was always very active and only had to have medication as it progressed to a grade 4 at the age of 14.
I really wouldn't worry too much and wait and see how he goes, regular checks just to see if there is any change will keep your mind at rest.
