Hi All
Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine!
I wonder if you can help with my questions about sardines. I've just bought Ellie a tin (it says no added brine but they are lighting grilled). I've never given her sardines before and just wondered if iI should give them a wash and do I give them all to Ellie or just a llittle bit?
Any advice is greatly received :-)

As Ellie hasn't had them before she might find them a bit rich, so probably best to drain them well and rinse them lightly to get rid of as much salt as possible and just add a small amount to her food this evening. If she's OK afterwards give her the rest tomorrow :D
I bet she loves them, most dogs do.

Thanks Elaine. Sounds like a good idea...I'll give it a go. Do you ever feed fruit?
-
I do, but I'm a raw feeder, not kibble :D. Mine have some blitzed raw veggies and fruit with their meat most days.
If you're thinking of adding fruit or veg. to kibble just for a bit of variety you can try most things and see what Ellie likes best. Don't feed onions because they're toxic and don't feed raw potato. Cooked potato is safe but probably fattening. Grapes and dried grapes (raisins, sultanas etc.) are toxic.
My 2 always have a slice of banana if I have one with my breakfast cereal and other favourites just as a treat are slices of apple, pear, carrot and broccoli stalk. They also help themselves to cherry tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries from the garden >:(
On hot days you can put some sliced fruit and veg. in a plastic cup, top up with water and freeze into ice lollies. Louis crunches them up to get to the fruit and veg. but William licks and licks. I think he may have sensitive teeth :lol2:

Thank you very much. I've been giving a few bits of cooked veg and Ellie loves it but never tried fruit. The ice lollie sound fab and I've got lotsof bananas so will give them a go.
