Title: Frankie
Post by: deano on April 11, 2015, 11:11:12 AM
I haven't posted on COL for a while now as Frankie's journey with Leishmaniasis has taken up so much of my time. Some of you may remember him and how we adopted him in September 2010 whilst living in Spain.  We already had 2 cockers Louis and Alfie (who was also adopted from the same refuge as Frankie). We returned to live in the UK in Nov 2011 and in July 2013 we had the diagnosis that Frankie had leish. I posted quite a lot about him during his illness and we were over the moon in May 2014 when we found from blood tests that the Leish was not showing, although we knew it would never be gone and he would always have medication we remained positive and he was doing amazing. In November last year after asking for a routine blood test we were told his kidney function had changed and devastating for us he deteriorated. He was so ill by February that we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go to Rainbow Bridge.  Our life will never be the same without him, he was the most beautiful, gentle soul and fought so bravely the strong medications he had to have to fight the early stage
of the leish. We miss him every day as do Louis and Alfie ... I have posted a favourite photo of him in our garden in Spain after a month living with us
