At home, Henry's favourite place to be is in my lap, at my feet, following me like a shadow.
Out in the woods and fields, it's 'so long sucker' and he's off.
Contrary little blighters, aren't they?
Anyway, as his old habits of running off with other dogs and across the field to chase the birds have re-emerged, I have him back on the long line or lead, but only in situations where I know these behaviours are likely. I'm letting him off the lead in the woods where he stays closer to me and will greet other dogs calmly. Hopefully this two-pronged approach won't confuse him.

Something in the air as Dexter went deaf today and just kept chasing after the wood pidgeons.

They really need to make that part of the official breed description.

Yesterday was the first time I lost sight of Humphrey. He's been so good since the long lead training and I really thought we'd hacked it, deer and hares haven't bothered him and I walked him off lead at heel within 2 yards of some goats that had escaped out of the pen just the other day, no problem. But Sunday morning he succumed to a " Femme fatale " who must have been on the path just before us.. :luv: :luv: and that was that!!
He did eventually appear after I'd nearly blown my lungs out on the whistle but was so much in the clouds, he wouldn't even take his treat and refused his breakfast aswell! :005: :005!
(Next step he'll be locking himseld in the bedroom and hogging the phone..... :rofl1: :rofl1:)
