Title: Leaving Rhodri to go on holidays
Post by: Rhodri0311 on August 05, 2016, 09:20:25 PM
We're going on holidays tomorrow for almost three weeks (booked before Rhodri was even a twinkle in his mummy's eye).

He's going to stay with my mum and dad, who he sees all the time - my dad takes him out when we're both working so he's used to them.

I'm really looking forward to this holiday but I'm absolutely dreading leaving my little boy - I know he won't understand what's going on.

No point to this really, just so worried  :'(

Please tell me how you all cope leaving your furry babies.

This is why we started caravanning, it was the only way I was going on holiday.

I will tell you
Little Rhodri is going to have a ball.
You on the other hand are going to spend every day wondering what he is doing, how he would love it where you are,
" do you think he is missing us"  will be constantly on your mind
You are going to suffer alot more than him   :005:

When we were away in Crete for 2 weeks last month my son and his girlfriend sent us daily photos and captions on Hangouts and it was very reassuring to see him chilling out lying on his back on their couch, getting lots of cuddles and looking very happy and very much at home. Maybe your Mum and Dad could do something similar with Rhodri to reassure you as I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine especially as he's used to them.

Thank you - unfortunately my parents are dinosaurs when it comes to technology so no chance of Skype or FaceTime! My mum can just about manage to text  :lol2:

Over 30 years ago, GB still had quarantine and I had to leave my baby in an awful dog home so I could come home for xmas. Had an awful holiday worrying all the time and when we finally got back and  picked him up again he backed into his kennel, wouldn't have anything to do with us and to top it all, he was filthy stank to high heaven!!!
Rhodi is with people he knows and who love him, he'll be spoilt to bits and when you get back, he'll greet you with a lovely cocker wiggle and lots of licks and all will be well!!
Go and enjoy your holiday, he'll be absolutely FINE and be happy that you have your Mum and Dad to take care of him - he couldn't be in a better place and I'm sure they'll also love every minute!! ;)
Have a good time!!!😎

We were in the same boat in March, Oscar was only 5 months and we had booked a two week holiday, much like you, my parents come round during the day of we are both at work as they are round the corner. They had him for the whole time, I didn't miss him too much, but they my parents sent us up dates everyday, I would also FaceTime, but my mum said he would be fine until he heard our voices and then he would sulk cause he could hear us but not see so she told us not to face time after the third day! He was only very young though. And he did remember us when we came back and it was like we had never left....  :D We are off again for two weeks in November and leaving him again with them, so we are hoping it will be bit better this time round as he will be 1 years old by then.

We've just come back from Malta and even though I thought about my little Monty every day, I knew he would be having a blast back at his breeders, along with lots of ready-made playmates!  It's always difficult to leave them but I have always done so without any adverse effects (apart from my worrying  :lol2:).  Try to enjoy your holiday!
