Title: Soaking pups food
Post by: Ang-Bob on January 25, 2017, 12:50:46 PM
Been a while since we've had a pup & I can't remember when I usually stop soaking the kibble?
He's 13 wks & on Skinners Field & Trial duck & rice puppy, they say soak during weaning then can be fed dry or soaked.
He's greedy & eats very fast!
Opinions?

Hi Milo hasn't had soaked food (also feed him skinners puppy) since he was about 10weeks old but I do mix in a spoon of wet food into his kibble to make it a bit more tasty. Use hills science plan the vets gave me, don't know if it's any good but he only has a little bit at each meal 3 times a day. Dry food may make him eat slower [emoji3]

With the speed he eats at I'm a bit concerned it may blow up in his tummy as I'm sure he doesn't chew just gulps it down. It's not huge amounts though as it's split into 4 feeds.
He loves his food  :lol2:

Hi Ang-Bob... I'm new on here & I am trying to figure out how to put a photo on a post! Our Scruffers gobbled down his food so we bought him a bowl that encourages a dog to eat more slowly, it's got 3 posts in the middle. I'll figure out how to put the pic on here 😊

I know the ones you mean scruffers as my oldest dog has a puzzle/maze type one as he's also a guzzler!! Will look for a puppy one  ;)

I have always added water to my dogs kibble, it cuts out the risk of them bloating if they eat dry kibble too fast, my sister had a jack russel who was always at the vets as his stomach would bloat up, I told her to soak his kibble first and it worked fine
