Title: Handstripping head
Post by: silke on September 26, 2024, 09:11:14 PM
Hi everyone,

I use a comb with a rubber band on Alfie's body, which seems to work well but it doesn't work on his head. For some reason, not a lot comes out and his fur just sticks up.

Any suggestions gratefully received!
Thank you.

Bobby’s hair was too thick to hand strip for him to not to get fed up . I used a Mars coat king on his head , and all over when he was a fluffy puppy.  No groomers near me do handstripping because it takes hours.  I had to give in to clipping, again having disasters till I found a lovely girl who could do as I wanted and make him look normal. I was happy with the clipped head, because a black dog absolutely gleams with it . Is your handstripping an ongoing exercise or just every couple of months?

I am lucky in the fact that I do manage to have Harry hand stripped by groomer who is really up there with cocker spaniels - having 2 that she owns.

Wonder if maybe worthing having a look at Mike Wildmans you tube pages.  Just google Mike Wildman dog groomer. Might help.
