Post by: honeysmun on February 06, 2006, 06:33:18 PM
Can you advise me please,   :(      Honey's ears smell a little bit waxy,  is this normal, if not,  what do you recommend I can to do to  keep them sweet smelling.  She is coming on in leaps and bounds, I have booked her in for puppy classes on the 22 Feb, and I am trying to get some pics of her down loaded for you all to see, but still having to fight the damm computer   into give them up. I have now become a full time COL ADDICT      just five minutes  turns into a hour plus,    thanks everyone for making this site super.

Could be ear mites, could be ear infection, could just be a waxy build up, is she scratching??????

Get yourself some Thornits if you haven't already got some and but a wee bit in her ears that should solve the prob, unless it is an infection, although thornits seems to solve everything for ears IMO! And some ear cleaner, you should use this regularly. I use Leo ear drops from the vets :)

You can get thornits from the canine chemist and even Ebay!! :D

I got Thornit's from www.championpetsonline.co.uk - it arrived the next day and I put it in once a week as a preventative measure, following recommendations on COL.

Snoopy unfortunately got an infection in his ears when he was 14 weeks old (now 18 weeks old) and had to have a course of treatment to clear it up, but following recommendations from our vet he now has Leo Ear Cleaner in once or twice a week, which really maintains them well, as he has a habit of putting his head in the most unwanted places, namely my muck heap at the stables, wiffy or what after that.....  I haven't used Thornit but everyone on here says it the best, so would take there advice, but if in any doubt just talk to your vet they are normally very useful, I know mine our.
