Zorro's home! He is absolutely adorable, very confident but in a very nice way and totally different to Bella. We couldn't cuddle Bella till she was about 4 months as she just wanted to play ALL the time, but Zorro loves his cuddles - he's also a natural retriever :luv:
We didn't get him home till 5.30ish as the traffic was quite bad but he was great in the car, slept most of the way after a few initial howls of protestation at being removed from Sharon :luv:, had one wee on the newspaper and that was that. We put Bella in the boot in the end just to make sure in case she decided to get narky at him.
Since we got him home, Bella has been pretty good - she's put him in his place a few times but mostly just little warning grumbles at him - she had one more serious go at him when I was grating some parmesan ::) because he'd come to join her in begging. He has got the cocker begging down to a T, does the sitting in front of you with the "oh look I'm a poor, beautiful puppy" face extremely well
Bella and him had a tiny bit of a game earlier where they both barked at each other, wagging like mad, lots of play bowing on both parts and eventually he legged it and Bella bounded after him, so that bodes well.
This is the state of the pair of them at the moment:

As you can see, Zorro pretty much fills up Bella's old puppy bed already - bearing in mind Bella only took up a third of it at his age! He is a chunky monkey and I think he'll very soon overtake her in size.
As I'm typing this, Zorro woke up and tottered over to where Bella is sleeping, presumably thinking about whether he could snuggle up, but he obviously thought better of it as he's back in his own bed with his teddy now.
He has met Ziggy, the old grumpster cat, who just hissed at him straight away which he took good notice of, so I think as the cats have been through this puppy thing once they will be alot easier with it this time and at the moment the cat and both dogs are all asleep in the living room.
He's just woken up again and is desperately trying to get Bella to play but she's just walking around wagging and vaguely trying to ignore him.

We're so pleased to have him home, he is the most adorable little lad, he's been thoroughly exploring downstairs and the garden as well, and has been deferring to Bella so if they both get up at once, he stands back and lets her go first (very wise!), and earlier when it had got dark he wanted to go outside but was too scared, so he waited for Bell to go first and then trotted out and stood next to her on the step, it was a very sweet sight. :luv:
He's a VERY vocal boy, makes little noises to himself whilst eating a carrot and barks for you to play with him, he's a heart breaker!
More tomorrow!

Zorro :luv: :luv:
You are a gorgeous little boy. Sounds a bit like my Daisy when we brought her home, she was wary of Mollie, but she is also a confident girl not scared to explore and stand up for herself (in a nice way), and she is a very vocal little girl too! She is a cuddler and when the food is out in the kitchen, Daisy has learnt from Mollie to sit and beg, and Mollie gives Daisy a warning grumble to tell her who's boss.
Lovely pictures, look forward to more as he is growing up.
Hope you have a good night.

aahhh he is adorable :luv: :luv:

sooooo adoreable :luv: ...glad they are getting on well :D
-
Welcome home Zorro :luv:
Sounds like he is settling in very well
-
Oh Zorro, you are a handsome boy. :luv: :luv:
It sounds like Bella and Zorro will be fine together. Its a much more promising start than I had with Barney and they are all the best of friends, never a cross word (though I do wish one of them would put Barney in his place ::) - don't suppose I can have everything!)
I've found that boys are way more cuddly than girls. Both my boys are cuddle monsters. Sapphi likes to give you kisses but strictly no cuddles. :005:
Here's hoping for a quiet night! ;)
-
He is lovely. :luv: :luv:
They are going to have sooooooo much fun together! :D

Glad you arrived home safely, Zorro certainly looks as though he's made himself at home already!

I think it sounds as though everything will be ok eventually. I'm sure poor Bella will have some adjusting to do, but then so does he! (and you too)
Lovely photos. Keep them coming.

Aww, Zorro is gorgeous! (So is Bella!)

Well, we've been up since, erm, 5.30 real time but only cos Bella woke up naturally at what she thought was 6.30. Zorro slept in the bedroom with us with his crate in the puppy pen. He did create to be held prisoner in such an evil way (not realising that we KNOW he has spent lots of time in a puppy playpen ) and set up crowing and howling and rattling the bars of his cage but it didn't last long, I did keep the light on and sat up reading so he could see me, he was soon out like a light (wedged between a fluffy hot water bottle and his teddy :luv:) and there wasn't a peep from him until we got up with Bella. In fact he was so quiet I was starting to worry! It remains to be seen how he'll be tonight as I know the first night can be very quiet anyway, but hopefully he'll feel a bit more settled by then.
Bella woke up like a bear with a sore head, didn't want to play with us, grumbled away at Zorro, who was full of beans legging it up and down the length of the house making his funny little noises to himself. Anyway I fed him about 6.30 while Bella had a bit of a lie in upstairs, and then we all came back to bed and Zorro was put back in the pen. He set up crowing in between taking munches of a carrot , he is a perfect little cocker royale, he has the royal personage thing down to a fine art! He did settle after 5 mins or so and just amused himself with his new toys.
I took Bella up to Greenwich park at 7.30 ph34r to go squirrelling, where she was grumpy with every single dog she met including a 7 month old cocker she normally likes to play with, so obviously feeling very much like her nose is out of joint. Anyway I did lots of squirrelling with her and since we've come back home she's been much calmer, following Zorro around to see what he's up to, and also REALLY making sure she gets lots of cuddles from us (which she is, of course). She's being very good with Zorro really, letting him steal her hide bone, sleep on her bed (although it's a manky old one, the prized Kudos bed is in the cupboard for now) and she even let him give her a brief kiss earlier :luv:. She's needing lots and lots of reassurance that we still love her to bits but that's not hard to give as she's such a lovely girl.
They actually had their first game of tug in the garden about an hour ago with a long piece of dried bambooey stuff which Zorro found. Bella looked very bemused when Zorro grabbed the end of it and started yanking and growling but she held on and wagged her tail. I can't wait for them to start playing properly, I don't think it'll be long...
Anyway a couple of pics from this morning - I've got a film of the game of tug here: http://www.zippyvideos.com/9822820606202976/movie/ (http://www.zippyvideos.com/9822820606202976/movie/)

Awww. Zorro is gorgeous :luv: and Bella sounds as though she is being an  with him.

he's absolutely beautiful, I'm sure Bella will adapt quickly to having Zorro live with you too.
-
He is stunning! :luv: :luv: What a little cutie pie :-* :-*
xxx
P.S Claire you need to change your signature :005:
-
He looks lovely :luv: and very large for his age compared to our Louie.
I'm glad he's settled in well ;)
-
He looks really gorgeous,Claire; it's great that they seem to have settled happily together! ;)
-
Sounds like everything is going really well and that you are having great fun observing the two of them together. Love the video clip, Bella looks quite bewildered and intrigued by her new little playmate  - those determined growls of Zorro's as he tugs away at the twig remind me so much of Misty when she was that age.
-
Claire,
Zorro looks like a little star! :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:
Bella will soon fall in love with him!
Ruby sends Zorro and Bella loads of cocker kisses!!

What lovely pics - Glad I'm not the only up at the dogly hour this morning 5.30am here (Old time) >:(
Glad Bella and Zorro are getting along OK it'll get even better once they get used to each other, but if not just post Zorro to me ;) :luv: :luv: Bella too if you want as they are both gorgeous :luv: :005:
-
Oh Claire he is an absolute stunner :luv: :luv: :luv:
Sounds like Princess Bella is doing a stoic job of putting up with her new bratty brother   (Daisy says she'll send some tips for brother squashing if Bella runs out of ideas ;) )
Hope tonight is as successful as last night!!
-
Sounds pretty good so far.
Hope tonight's a good one!
Are you taking time off work?
-
Hiya Claire
So glad everything's settling down for you, god I admire you for taking Bella out this morning at 7.30am, I'm that exhausted poor Scooby has only had 20 mins walk today ph34r
Zorro is gorgeous and looks huge to me - is he 9 weeks or am I getting confused? Misty's 8 weeks and she looks absolutely tiny compared to Zorro.
He's gorgeous though, bet you're so chuffed. Like you, I've been putting Misty's food in the crate and she's happy to nibble at it in there, and she's happy to sleep in the crate when the door is open, it's just when she's left alone ::)
Anyway, Bella seems to be coming round to the idea doesn't she? Although Scooby seems to really like Misty, he is a little quiet though - mind you, she has been sleeping in his bed today - he didn't seem to mind though but as soon as she woke up and got out he jumped in to claim it back
Anyway, hope tonight goes well for you and look forward to the update tomorrow :D

Well the 2nd night was great - he woke us up once for a wee at 3am and settled back down straight away, and slept till 6.30 which is when we get up anyway.
Bella was very grumbly with him first thing, I think she just wasn't awake enough as she tends to go back to bed till 7.30 and likes her lie-ins. I took her for her walk and she was much better when she got back, wagging at him and playbowing and they had a short game of tug so that's good.
We're taking 2 weeks off between us (mainly OH as I've hardly any holiday left this year so I'm doing lots of half days) and will start on getting him okay with being on his own for short periods from today, and of course the all important socialisation, so he'll be having his first little carry around the local streets today. :luv:
He's a lovely boy, very cuddly and very free and easy with his kisses!
He is a fair bit bigger than Bella was but she is a pint-size, people still think she's a puppy and she's nearly 2 now. We were going to have her old puppy bed in his crate but he actually fills the puppy bed up already (he's 10 weeks tomorrow) so we've ditched that and he just has the crate as his bed - I think we're going to need to buy a bigger one!
-
Missed this as well...
Zorro is gorgeous Claire, sounds like he's settled in fabulously already :luv: and I'm sure Bella will soon get to like having him around too :D
How are you getting on with his barf diet?
I'm sooooo puppy broody it's unbelievable! >:(
-
How are you getting on with his barf diet?
Sharon had already started him down this track as he's been having chicken wings and mince for a while now (plus Burns). I'm feeding him 2 meals of Burns and 2 of raw at the moment, so yesterday he had one meal which was mince and veg mixed up (gone in a about 2 seconds) and then a chicken wing for dinner. I'm very impressed with the way he eats his chicken wings, crunches them well and truly up and doesn't guzzle so that's good. When he goes onto 3 meals he'll have one of Burns and 2 raw, and then just 2 raw meals eventually. I might try him on a bit of breast of lamb next week to see how he gets on, give him something to get his teeth into! :D
He really loves his food, in fact he goes into full body waggles over it and this morning for his Burns he had to sit down to eat as he couldn't get it in his gob for waggling too much! He also makes these contented little squeaks to himself as he's eating (does the same with a carrot), it's very endearing! :luv:
