what does de clawing mean, i hope it dosnt mean what i think it does >:D >:( >:(

Do you mean removal of the dew claws in puppies? In what context are you reading the term?

where some pups have been de clawed? what does it mean?

In puppies it means removal of the dew claw, which is a 5th claw, located higher up the leg. It is done when they are a day old and is considered painless. It's very common as the dew claws catch on things, are not necessary to the dog and not well attached to the leg.
Declawing in cats does mean what you think it means, involves amputation of the tip of the toe at the knuckle and is not painless

depends on where you come from in america it means the total removal of the claws, its regularly done in cats and kittens, in the UK it usually refers as has already been mentioned to Dew Claw removal.
I have one dog with and one dog without her dew claws and I have to say I prefer them without, Alya's dew claws have got caught and ripped a couple of times not nice for her at all even though they are kept very short with clipping.

I know that they can be removed as a puppy, but I found that Jasper still has one of his and wondered if this can also be removed from adult dog to prevent catching as already mentioned?

Dallas had one of his removed as an adult (he had them removed as a pup but one had grown back!!) and he was in a bit of discomfort for a couple of days. Any dog that has it done at our surgery goes home with a course of painkillers. As annoying as I find them, I wouldn't have them removed on an adult unless it was necessary ie kept catching on things and breaking. I decided to have Dallas's removed as he wouldn't let me anybody near him with nail clippers to keep them trimmed - he panicked so much that at one point I thought he was going to pass out :o With the 3 younger ones, I clip them myself to keep them short and neat and haven't had any problems.

Most breeder's have the dew claw's removed as they grow very fast and can start to curl and then grow in to the dogs legs.
Its for there own safty as it can be very very pain full for them if they catch it on somethink

Buttons has hers and they are a pain!! i have to constantly keep an eye on them and she does catch them sometimes. She actually chews them herself to try and keep them short.
