Title: When can you properly start to train puppies
Post by: bacardinikki on January 31, 2007, 07:01:32 PM
We are getting our little girl in 9 days, soooo excited.  I have been reading lots of books and reading all the  COL topics but they dont really say when you can actually start properly training them.

I am interested in using clicker training or maybe a whistle for outside but i dont know when to start. :D

Any advice would be appreciated :luv:

I would say as soon as possible.
I've had Dyllan 5 months and each day i realise he benefits form more and more training.
Make sure you get lots of sleep.

From day 1. ;)

Get yourself a copy of The Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey. Make that your bedtime reading for the next week and you'll be well clued up on what to do ;)

You do need to know how much is reasonable - but you start from the off, training to go wees and poos, sit, wait etc and build up from there.

I have just realised that someone has asked the exactly same question further down the page.   Silly me, sorry.

Any other general advice would be good though. :luv:
