Hi all,
was hoping to get a little advice.
On Sunday night Molly was a little sick and had dia-thingy (upset tummy) ;) - on Monday I awoke to a little parcel in dining room ::)
Since then she has been off her food, although still eating some meals, has seemed quite down in dumps. Today I noticed her nipples were slightly larger than normal and I think she has been cleaning herself down there a little more than usual.
I searched previous threads and checked her bits with a tissue and there is no blood although it seemed a tiny bit swollen.
At first I thought she had a tummy bug, but looking at all symptoms together am now thinking it may be the start of her first season- she is 7 and half months old.
Do dogs get upset tummies and mood swings???
What do you think???

Fern was out of sorts for a few days definately.
I would say it sounds like Molly is coming into season if she is swelling up down below, just keep an eye on her over the next few days. The tissue test is good although not all dogs bleed, so I'm led to believe. Hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon ;)

Josie was like this before she had her first season. She kept licking her bits and then they started to swell - I felt a real donut cos I wasn't sure if she was on heat or not! However, once it came we certainly knew she was!
She was out of sorts the whole time, and now it is all over her nipples still seem much bigger than they were before, but her lady bits have gone back to normal.
She is much happier again, but she lost a bit of her usual energy and was not her usual happy self for a while - but I put that down to being out of condition as she was unable to go for walks and run around free as she was used to.
Good luck!

I had the same thing with my cocker, I had a pee pee on the sofa and then a present in the bedroom when I got up! A few days later I started to see some droplets of blood, so I am guessing either your puppy has eaten something dodgy or she is coming into season. Keep her on the lead when you walk her just to be safe, apparently the first period can be silent - with no blood, just a bit of swelling. Should last about 3 weeks - and then you should be good. And also, they are prone to mood swongs - more affectionate or more irratable - just like women - when its that time!!
