Title: So Angry!!
Post by: Linz13 on October 22, 2007, 08:40:41 PM
I have just came in from walking my two, and I am livid.  So excuse the angry typing - may need a new laptop when I'm finished!

There is a guy locally who has 2 german shepherds.  Both pretty young 18-24 months i would say, he never has them on a lead and has absolutely NO control over them.  They are both males, and always run into the road, up to dogs, people, just whatever they want basically.

Well quite a few times now they have went for Murphy, I always have put my two on short leads and walk past them priaising my two for ignoring them, but tonight really p******d me off.

They were running around one going for Murphy and the other circling us, he said they only want to play, a wee bite wont hurt them, it's good for a wee dog to be scared of big dogs - Maddi has started to really get scared of other dogs, and I amnot having it.

Any advice, apart from giving the owner a good slap   :005:

Call the dog warden - this could so easily end up with an injured dog, and one or both GSD's PTS  >:(

 :o :o

I'd report him to the dog warden, for the sake of all other dogs & the gsd's themselves. They don't stand a chance with him as an owner .

" a wee bite won't hurt them" shocking!  :o :o

Nope. That sounds like the best course of action...

.....(joke  ;) ).

Report them to the dog warden without a doubt. He does not have his dogs under control and that is an offence  >:( . It could be a young child/toddler they harrass next time  :'(

omgosh i cant believe he did that!!! He should be reported and have those dogs taken off him.  At the end of the day its his dogs and other people who will suffer if he is allowed to continue like that   >:D

I hope you are feeling better btw, i really feel sorry for you and your dogs having to put up with that sort of behaviour.

i know how you feel, some people just think they are the only ones with dogs and can do what they want  >:(

i had a similar situation with a man who had his dog of the lead and it came up to poppy (shes not keen on other dogs) and it wouldnt leave her alone, poppy was on her lead so we kept on walking but it followed us in the end OH asked him to get his dog and put it on its lead as poppy was frightened  ph34r he had no control at all  >:(

I'd go with the dog warden too but a deterrant doesn't hurt either.  I've got a great airhorn that does the trick...

Makes me  >:(

I took Monty out for his first walk yesterday and something similar happened. Again this dog was off his lead and attacked Monty and another pup.  The husband wanted to put him on a lead but she said no as "they have to learn how to defend themselves" >:(  Sadly, I was so concerned for Monty, I didn't say anything but I will be ready and waiting for her if I see her again >:( >:(

A similar thing happened to me and Skye when she was tiny.

A Japanese Akita went for her neck.  >:D

The man apologised saying 'i just cannae control him, he's like this all the time'

I went absolutely MENTAL at him and phoned the police when we got home.

I haven't seen him around since.

Skye got such a fright, I took her round to see my friend who has a big friendly, docile German Shepherd so that she wouldn't be afraid of all bigger dogs.

I hope you are ok - you must have got a fright.  Keep us posted.

I had a similar experience on saturday morning. The ignorant dog owner actually asked me to pick up Jake rather than put the lead on his own dog when it was quite obvious that it was his dog chasing (and nipping) mine. Jake was obviously scared and kept running back to me, but the other dog just kept chasing him.

People who can't control their dogs shouldn't let them off the lead!

We once had the same happening here a few years ago. Two GSDs attacked our pyrenees, one his back end one the front. Fortunately Troy had no problem to ward them off (pyreneans are bred to fight wolves and bears after all, so two shepherds were no challenge really) and one was limping and the other bleeding from the shoulder (Troy was unharmed). But the guy with them said that other dogs normally submit or run away and that he had never seen any stand up to them like Troy did... So obviously he let his dogs bully other dogs on a regular basis! We have never seen them again in the area... maybe (and hopefully) he (and his dogs) have learnt a lesson.

I would also report him to the dog warden so they can at least have a word to keep the dogs safe.
