Hi my name is Natalie, this is the first time I have 'posted'. I share my home with Herbert who is a 2yr 7month old male blue roan, I am absolutely besotted with him and would like to offer our home to another Cocker. Can anyone help? The new addition would need to be 12 months or less, ideally male and cat friendly as Herberts ginger friends, brother and sister, are from the Cat Protection League and I wouldn't want them to leave home! Also Herbert is rather over indulged and I think he would accept a puppy far better and hopefully have the best of games and runs together.
We live in Oxfordshire but travelling to where needs be is not a problem for us nor us being vetted.
I thought I would try this site as after researching and speaking to breeders it seemed like the place to offer. However if by the spring no one needs us then I will purchase Herbs a new friend and would appreciate recommendations for breeders that have black and tan and solid blacks that people can vouch for as I am nervous of getting it wrong and inadvertently supporting a dubious breeder.
Many thanks Nat and Herbs.

Welcome to COL! :D
There are quite a few cockers in this part of the forum, and if you've read some of the other posts you will know of other leads (no pun intended :005:) Young dogs are hard to come by, but you never know!
The breed rescue for cockers is another avenue to try - see the pinned topic at the top.
Good luck!

Thanks for your email Mary. I am delighted to have found this forum of all things Cocker and be able to share my enthusiasm with other like minded souls!
I have tried breed rescue to no avail and Cynthia White (rescue for the South) told me to ring her back in three weeks and give her my details then so thought I would post on here to widen my appeal, as well as seeing which breeders people recommend should the rescue search prove fruitless.
Cheers, Nat and Herbs.

I only know of a couple of cohabiting cockers who were brought into NW cocker rescue with in the last week due to marriage break up. They are male and female, both neutered and both golden. Apparently both good natured. Don't exactly fir your criteria but I thought I'd post anyway just in case. ;)
-
Thank you for thinking of us, however, I think my Herbert would leave home if I brought two new siblings home to him!! What does NW stand for interms of Cocker rescue facilities? Is that North Wales?
I have unfortunately drawn a blank so far on finding a rescue English cocker to join our family so it was good to hear from you and I now feel a little more hopeful that one may be out there for us (:
Cheers,
N&H.

I think NW would be North West ::)
Keep trying. I have 4 rescue cockers, although the youngest was 4 when we got her. ;)
-
Sorry, NW means North West as Mary P kindly pointed out.
Go on www.thecockerspanielclub.co.uk and that will show you a full list of all the cocker rescue people and a list of all the regional secretaries should you draw a blank so you may search for a pup from a reputable breeder instead.

Would you keep in touch with me Em as to when the four do arrive. I could only have one and the younger the better, but I cannot pretend I'm not a little excited!! Please ring anytime, I have sent my mobile number on the enquiries at four paws page but if mobile's are too expensive to call, given your charitable status, just txt me or ring and I'll call straight back.
Thanks ever so,

Penny,
Thank you for getting back to me. Am having IT issues this end so you will either get loads of responses from me or none!
I do understand about not seperating the girls I am sure they will be distressed enough by not being with their family let alone each other. How come they can't go with them abroad and in to quarantine or on a pet passport?
Could you kindly bear me in mind not just re-Holly but any other young/younger cockers that come in please? All of my contact details are on the application form that I have completed and returned to four paws.
Many thanks,
Nat.
