HELP!!! :rofl1: :rofl1:
Please please can someone help, as even the vet cannot tell me. I have a lovely not sure what which I have had from 12 weeks. His name is Sid and has a pedigree to make you die! That I do not care about as he is a pet and the love of my life! (except the kids..forget the hubby) Anyway when I took him to the vet he said he was a springer, I took him to doggy training again said he was a springer, took him to an event....working cocker. Totally confused. I really do not care but it would be nice to know what my baby is? He is mad as a bag of monkeys and looks nothing like a cocker and is bigger than most springers but not as wide however Sid is only 13 months old. Can anyone tell me where in the north east there is a working cocker expert who can tell me if my Sid is what the papers say he is. No one has heard of the breeder even though he sang a song of experience that the Beatles would be proud of!

Larger picture and as much pedigree as you have, needed please :D
-
What was he sold as and what breed were his parents :-\
-
There is always somebody breaking their neck to put you right, Cockers do actually come in all shapes and sizes. Someone somewhere always thinks they know best. just enjoy Sid!
-
Well I can't tell by your pic
But I would just like to say i think he is lovely :luv:
Braan is 5 1/2 months old and is bigger than Fern already (21 months old) think he is gonna be nearer the size of a springer if he carries on growing the rate he is - but we don't care he is a real darling and we love him the way he is ;) (Crazyspaniels - no chance you're ever getting him back :shades: )
Don't worry too much and just enjoy Sid :D

Ditto what Flozac said, Jasper is much bigger than average cocker and people comment on that just as they do about Louies shorter coat - he is part worker - but they are both KC pedigree cocker spaniels. They won't ever win at CRUFTS breed classes but we didn't get them for being breed standards ;)
We met someone in the woods a couple of months ago with the most gorgeous Clumber who commented that people always comment about his over sized cocker - he was chuffed when I said "wow, is that a clumber" and she wasn't even out of the car then! That said I do sometimes struggle with identifing whether springer v worker and sprockers ph34r
Would still love to see pics of your baby.

Dont worry what everyone else says ::) I have a working cocker too, and he is always being mistaken for a different breed, used to get my goat but it doesnt anymore. He is my gorgeous Jagger and that's that!! Most other people think he is a springer, but that has a lot to do with how high the ears are I think.....everyone's an expert! :005:
-
I usually wait for the raised eyebrows when I say that Ben in a cocker - I then have to add that he is the working type and they then raise their eyebrows even more!
I can't see Sid too well from your avatar but I think he looks similar to one of 'Jeans' dogs Pepper? Have a look at the photos of the workers in the photo section - they really do come in all shapes, sizes and colours!
-
can't tell from the avator pic, but would be able to from his pedigree :D
-
Don't worry yourself, Sid is a lovely Cocker. Enjoy him :luv:

A simple google search finds:

Would suggest you have a working cocker. ;)
There's lots more on there for the older generations in that pedigree ;)

A simple google search finds:
How can I find out 100%, do you know anyone on the pedigree that would know.
I assume the grandparents would be the first port of call which is FT CH Whaupley Reiver and Lady Bonnie of Roxby, Parkbreck Porter, Orol Eli of Whiteford. Very longwinded!

That's a working Cocker pedigree - lots of well known kennel names there. If you want to research Sid's pedigree a bit further, you might like to start a new thread on the Pedigree Research board
Also all Cockers are registered simply as Cocker Spaniels, whether they are show-type or working type or a mix of the two so you wouldn't expect to see "Working Cocker" on Sid's KC registration certificate.

Closing this as a new thread has been started on the Pedigree board.
