Just been grooming Toby and he has a big Red Lump in his ear it looks like a Blood Blister
He doesnt like me looking at it :'(
Does anybody know what this may be ?
-
Could be a histiocytoma - they are quite common in young dogs. With any growth I'd get the vet to have a look.
-
Thank's Gill
Have booked him in to the vets.
-
Hi Sarah, sounds a bit like the histiocytoma Archie had on his chest, it got much bigger and worse, before it got better. I hope it goes OK at the vet. :-* :-* For Toby. :luv:
-
Kali recently had one of these on her leg. The vet said that they usually go of their own accord and are common in young dogs. Sure enough, as soon as I stopped Kali chewing it, it went within weeks  I am sure it is something simple but letting the vet see is best
-
Awwwww poor Toby, hope he gets on okay at the vets :luv: :luv:
-
Any news yet Sarah? :-\
-
Unfortunately we couldnt book him in till Wednesday dinner time to see the 'nice' vet.So we are still keeping a close eye on it,but it does look like its getting bigger and its really annoying him :'( His scratched it a couple of times and made it bled.
Doris is reg with a diffrent vets (long story) and Toby could of gone to see Doris's vet y.day but I'm so glad we didn't take him they was so rough with little Doris whilst Micro-Chipping her >:( she screamed her head off and clamped her tail for the first time ever :'( He chipped her half way down her back  I thought they normaly chipped them in the neck
-
:o Poor Doris. >:( Nasty vet. I have never heard of them chipping them on their back either, mine do them on the back of the neck as they said that is where they scan them. I hope Toby is OK, could you make him wear a snood, to stop him scratching it. Poor boy. :'(

Tryed a snood and it doesnt stop on him for long ::)

Poor babies, hope Doris is recovered from her ordeal and that Toby Ok tomorrow.
If it is an histiocytoma, Louie had one on top of his head and scratched it, just when we got to the point of the vet having to remove it it sorted itself out, imagine inside the ear is going to be harder to stick anything on to help
-
How long did louie's take to go down Jenny?

This was my thread at the time http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=23908.15 As I remember it was about a month between it coming up and droping off and the vet only gave antibiotics because he had scratched it and it was raw and sore looking and over the Christmas period so didn't want to be emergency later.
It took a while for the scar to heal and scab to go and the hair is just beginning to grow back (had to remember not to scalp him to avoid a ring of no hair ;))
-
It's a histiocytoma.
And the vet said it would be best to remove it so we are going back on Monday
-
sorry i have just posted about the same thing i hadnt read this first ph34r
poppy's is exactly the same, our vet has said he wants to take it out next week :'(
-
Toby had his histiocytoma removed today.
We dropped him off at 8:45,then the vet phoned at 10:30 to tell us it all went well and to collect him,he was sitting his his cage wide awake and barking his head off,i think the vet really wanted to get rid of him :lol2:
His had to have a collar which he doesn't really like, but his sleeping it of now,now his home :luv: :luv:
All being well he will have his stitches out in 10 days time.

Toby's still feeling a bit sorry for him self today :'(
He wants to scratch his ear but he knows it will hurt if he does so his been chewing his legs and feet today.
Doris isnt to impressed with Toby's new head gear tho :005: :005: She looks at him as if shes saying 'Toby what have you got on your head is it in fashion :005: She keeps trying to have a little nibble as well whilst he has it on ::) ::)
-
Bless him.
I'm sure he will be back to normal very soon.
-
poor wee toot. :luv:
hope he feels better soon.
-
These things are a worry at first aren't they? Dave had one on his head and we were told initially it would go away on its own but with it being in a scratchable place it just got worse and bothered him so he had his removed- now you can't see or feel where it was which was good because when we picked him up the stitching looked a bit untidy and I thought he might have a funny shaped head!!
Hope he gets better soon.

-
now our vet has'nt stitched it they said they couldnt >:( and she wouldnt wear a collar for nothing!
did you have to pay extra for the collar?
hope it goes well today when he has his stitches out.
-
Our vet stitched his ear and gave us the collar free of charge.
If the wound it open you will just have to watch it doesn't get dirty & infected
