ok, another silly question, will my dog grow to the size of his feet ph34r
It is just that he is still very small, but his feet are HUGE! :luv:
-
...think we need a pic of your HUGE footed cocker :005:
-
Shadows feet were huge when he was little too, like lions cub paws. Mostly all fluff though. When they wet they skinny.
Lets see some piccys of your fluff ball

sam had his feet trimmed this weekend at the groomers and you can see his nails. so even though you say he has been groomed i think his feet look big because if a lot of hair. what do they look like when they are wet. we saw a cocker today that looked really fat-but when he had a swim and was wet he had a really good shape to him-it was all hair :D
-
I think he is going to grow into those feet. He is stunning, lovely pictures.
-
YOU KNOW THEY SAY ABOUT BIG FEET :005:

what gorgeous markings, and LOVELY feet :luv:
-
Spaniel's feet look enormous until they have been clipped. Take a look at this one of my last Cocker, Benjie. He was about fifteen in this picture and was in need of a haircut.

Yes but barney has had his feet cut and the photo of him washed and wet still shows he has big feet!
-
Aw Debs it is definitely Barney mark II! :luv: :luv:
This is my Barney in need of a haircut- and as you can see he certainly DID grow into his enormous paws!!! All the more to cuddle. :D

thanks Deb
But think people have got the wrong idea, Barney has big feet, not fluffy feet, everyone seems to think I am saying he has big fluffy feet and they are small really, but they are not.
Oh well, don't suppose I will know until he is older
P.S your Barney is GORGEOUS :luv:
-
I think that the size of paws can be an indicator of future size, but it's not a hard and fast rule. From what I can gather they tend to grow from the feet up, so paws will grow ahead of other areas. However I know of one fully grown tiny cocker who still has huge feet - not just fluffy!!!
We are hoping that Honey doesn't grow too much more, but as she's only 5 1/2 months, she could well have further spurts!!
-
Barney is 5 1/2 months too, we get constant comments of how small he is, and I have to say after a while it really does start to grate, not that his size matters, but one woman at the weekend was very snotty, with her 'oh god isn't he small!' i felt like saying, yes, and oh god aren't you fat, and that is awful but she really was up her self!
-
Oh debs you have my understanding - yes it does grate and yes i get a little fed up of it. I guess it will not change. Mind you I have met people that tell me that their cocker was a small one and one lady told me oh you have a proper cocker - the giants they are breeding these days are not normal!! funny comment and it was a help but not the norm - its usually the oh she is soo tiny.
>:D ::)

Shadow is nearly 7 months and i think he is small he weighs 8.3 kg but his feet are big so i like the fact that he seems to going to be a smaller end scale of the breed but I would love him big or small, barney is lovely.
-
thanks all for your nice comments
We took Barney to a local pet store yesterday as they have scales there, he has gained 1.5kilos in the 4 weeks that we have had him
I know it does not matter what he weighs or his size, but I do wich people would stop the look of shock and horror when we say how old he is!
He is my little pocket rocket and I love him :luv:
-
Debbie, at least people know Barney is a cocker spaniel and a very cute pocket rocket too :luv:. My annoyance is people still ask me what breed Indie is like the field spaniel man did on Saturday >:D

I agree with Debs, it's all that fantastic fluff that is hiding her true identity!!! ;)

Fab paws :luv: and a very handsome boy

My Lab X had huge paws when she was a pup. Being a crossbreed (with a large Dad and a small Mum) we had no idea what size she'd grow. We got told "gosh, she's got big paws, she's gonna be huge!"all the time! She grew in to a small dog (with a huge personality!) - she's only 14" at the shoulders!
Someone recently said that Cockers grow from the feet upwards and I definately think its true. Rio's feet are really big, and in the last week her legs have really grown:

Jeanette, can't wait to see her once she has seen the groomer :luv:
-
Shes not booked in til the end of March when shes 6 months old so you'll probably see her before then hopefully, god knows what she will look like in a few weeks time.

The thing I love most about cocker's are their feet, they are ace. The bigger the better I say :005:
I think blue roan cocker cocker feet are the best because they remind me of those big bear slippers you can get. I actually bought my OH a pair when we had Groove so they could have matching paws :005:
I hope Eric has huge paws, it's starting to look like he will have, yeah!
