Title: WW II Crufts
Post by: Bex1982 on February 14, 2008, 03:18:27 PM
Hi can anyone help, my grandfather was telling me that his mother owned the cocker that won the first Crufts after the war, i think her name was 'Tracey Witch of Ware'.  I was looking for a website that i could read about this or even a book but for some reason i just can not find anything!!

My grandfather has been quite poorly recently and i took Maisie down to meet him and my nana, and his face lit up and, apparently, he has been going on about cockers ever since!!!  I don't blame him really they are rather gorgeous and fantastic pooches!!!

Thanks to anyone who'll be able to help me with this.

Love Bex and Maisie xx

H S Lloyd owned Tracey Witch of Ware when she won BIS at Crufts (in 1948 & 1950). He didn't breed her though - she was bred by Miss D Weldon. Was this your Grandfather's mother? Tracey Witch was born on 10/5/45 and was sired by Falconers Padlock of Ware out of a bitch called Whist. There is a photo of her in most Cocker books and if you do a Google search, you will find more images, including this small one on the KC site : http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=485
