Well, Honey has probably just had the worst day of her life.... she was spayed, and is now feeling very sorry for herself!!!
She's a bit happier now we've swapped the buster collar for a red jumper, but is just lying on me and shivering... :'(
I know she'll be right as rain soon enough, but I feel really cruel at the minute!!!

Honey are you going to make your mummy feel guilty for a while like Fern and Braan did?
They soon bounce back and so do you :D even tho at the mo you feel real bad and I bet the cocker eyes aren't helping either :P

awww she had the best day of her life yesterday followed by the worst day today :005: :005: :005:
the anaesthetic does funny things to them so once that wears off she'll bounce back really quickly :luv: :luv: :luv:

She is definately feeling very sorry for herself. Vet reckoned we'd need to keep the buster collar on for 10days!!!! I hope she does leave the stiches alone with the aid of her jumper, as she was hating the lampshade effect... and I don't know how the buster would work with her crate.
Her jumper does cover all her stitches, so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.
Oh, and she's not allowed any walks for 24hrs, then only 5-10mins on-lead for the next week!!! She's going to be climbing the walls!!! I'm off work this week, so at least I can keep her company!

Braan on the other hand hated the buster collar - when I said to vet we didn't have one for Fern he said 'Boys are worse at trying to have a go at their stitches' :-\ How right he was Braan was a total pest and we had to have eyes in the back of our heads when he didn't have the buster collar on

Poor Honey. :luv: I know everyone says it but they do bounce back so quickly, give it a day or two and she'll be driving you mad bouncing off the walls. :005:

I know - that's part of my worry - she's going to be a nightmare on 5 minute walks!!!!
She's making us feel really guilty at the moment - and seems to be absolutely starving - been giving her regular small feeds of rice and fish, which seems to be going down well, though the looks I get when she sees the portion size are ones of utter disgust! We've come to the conclusion one of us is going to have to sleep downstairs with her, mainly so we can make sure she doesn't start chewing at her stitches the minute she gets some energy... just no-one tell my parents, as they'll think we've gone completely soft! ph34r
She's just started making lots of little whimpery noises - sounds really miserable... :'(
Still, at least she is still speaking to us, and she has a new toy to play with when she perks up a bit!!! :D

Kali was in a bit of discomfort after and I asked the vet for Metacam which I gave her for the next couple of days. After that it was all I could do to stop her doing the wall of death around the lounge :005: I never did manage to stop her jumping up and down off the settee ph34r

Honey is a lot brighter this morning, though still feeling very sorry for herself.
I just can't believe how hungry she is - she woke at 2am, 3.30am and 5am desperate for more food, and was desperate for breakfast at 7am!!!!
The jumper does seem to be doing the trick, though she keeps trying to lick her wound, she can't actually get to it. Just hope that continues, as vet instructions were buster collar all the way, potentially until stitches out next week!!!!!!
She definately likes her new toy - though she did need to take it outside this morning, despite it being a plush toy.... >:(

Blimey stitches out next week - Fern had to have hers in for 2 weeks
As for 5 min walks - huh I took fern for 15 / 20 min walks from about day 3 and slowly increased it (altho on lead only) :shades:
I'm a bad mummy - as my lot come home from vets and get their normal meal at tea time or a bit later and none of this chicken or fish and rice ph34r

Its funny isn't it as my vets doesn't even put one on or give you a buster collar at all when any dog is neutered and we've had very few dogs that have needed them (and our rescue neuters quite a few dogs). Even if they do need them sometimes its good to take them off from time to time

We were given a tin of Hills recovery (well, it was included in the spay price).... so I knew in advance the vet would be recommending a light, easy to digest diet.... (Post-Op info advises buying a 3 day recovery pack... I don't think so!!!!).
She's still starving, tho - and no poos yet... :-\ And I'm worried she's not gonna want to eat her normal food - she seems to like the fish and rice, and the Hills, far better!!! :005:

That's good to hear, as vet was adament we shouldn't consider taking it off for several days, and then only under close supervision!! Now worrying that the vet will tell me off for not keeping the buster on - but she couldn't have got anything out of her food and water bowls, and wouldn't have got into her crate... ph34r

I took Ellie's buster collar off also, she hated it. I bought a pack of 4 kids t shirts out of tesco and she has been fine with those. We have to go back next monday to have her wound checked. Her stitches are dissolvable so won't need taking out. I give Ellie chicken and rice the night she came home, she seemed starving too. I put her back on the barf next morning but didn't give her any bones for two days as I didn't want to get her constipated. She is not happy as I'm having to crate her whilst I take the other two out. She is full of energy and back to her normal self the next day. I did find the Buster collar good for one thing though, she didn't pull on the lead whilst wearing it :lol2: I read somewhere they are not allowed to run, as in ball chasing and racing round with the other dogs for four weeks, that is going to be murder. Ellie was born to run at a hundred miles an hour.

No running for 4 weeks??? :o I was just told on-lead only until she has stitches out, which is in 10 days, and no jumping up on to the sofa (we've now put one of the sofa cushions on the floor, so she can walk up to her spot on the sofa - how soft are we?!!!). It's gonna be bad enough doing that, as Honey needs her walks (with lots of running) so that I can leave her when I go to work... I'm off all this week, but next week I gotta go back. :'(
Well, we've had a poo, so I'm happier.... she's still acting like we've not fed her in a week, but there's nothing more till tea-time now (and that's back to normal kibble).
She's still managing to leave the stitches (though not through lack of trying at times), so hopefully I get to sleep in my bed tonight, instead of downstairs with her!

Fank yu all fur yur Sqwidjez an Gud Wisses. I iz feelin much better, but duzzent fink much of dis silly joomper - duzzent soot me at all. I wants to go fur a long run, but I izznt allowd. :'(

I didn't realise she was being spayed on Monday. :o So pleased to hear she is begining to feel better. Millie bounced back to normal really quickly and the worst part was trying to stop her doing the wall of death round the furniture. >:D and we never did manage to stop her going up and down the stairs. :embarassed: >:D
We were told NO walks untill after she had the stiches out but after 3 or 4 days we decided that short pavement walks were probably better for her than getting hyper indoors and tearing round the house.
