Title: Need a new crate
Post by: loumeg on May 29, 2008, 10:56:16 PM
Hi We purchased a crate for Cookie for her arrival and got a 30" one thinking this would be sufficient but she looks too big for it already and she loves to be in her crate for peace and quiet so really want her to be comfortable and have plenty of room.  Dont want to make another mistake and buy the wrong size >:( Can any one advise on the size to buy  :-\

Thanks

My two have a 36" crate each with a single duvet folded in 3 so its very comfy  :shades:

They aren't spoilt honest  :005:

fern also has the 30" crate too with a homemade duvet in and she is fine in that

when bruno was a pup i decided to get the biggest crate i could ,i got a 45" x 30" as i didnt like the thought of him not being able to move about ,it has come in very handy over the years, but i did have the room in my kitchen for a large one ,i put it away when he was older, and recently had to get it out again as my cat had his leg amputated and bruno ran straight in and sat down, hes 8 yrs old now  :luv: he was so funny

Hi, I think Henry had a 42".  It's the largest sized one you can get.  Enough to pu a bed at the back, and plenty of room for laying down in front if he wanted.  Hope this helps. ;)

Why not just keep the 30" for the car?

Billy has a 30" in the car for short journeys, but it would be far too small for in the house.

Thankyou all for your input you have reassured me that a 42" will be good and not a waste of money.  Good advice about keeping the 30" for the car as well  :shades:

So can anyone advise of a good value stockist.  I have looked on the internet and found a couple which are a lot cheaper that pets at home but not sure if they are reputable would any of you buy on line ::) ?????????

This guy on ebay is very good

The crates are cheap but the quality is ok. I only use a crate in the car so these were ideal for me

This store on ebay is also very good.  I have one of the premium ones, which has a handy up and over door, which was perfect when I used it in the kitchen as didn't have any doors flapping about.  I just use it in the car now.

I got mine from doghealth - bought it online but because I live not too faraway went and picked it up myself to save carriage charges - can't do this if you live in Cornwall tho lol.

At the moment it sits in the shed folded up cos Smudge never really took to it, but i held on to it 'just in case' you never know if you will need it again ::) :005:

Wher are doghealth?????  Cookie loves her crate and like to lay fully out stretched which she can only do now if she is diagonal.  We usually get up to soggy ears where they have been dangling in her water ::)

You could sell the 30" on ebay and put it towards the cost of a new one.  If you look on ebay you will get an idea of the price you could expect and also how much it will cost in p&p (if you dont need it elsewhere that is!)
