Hi. I have had my little ruby since last wed,and she has'nt stopped with the runny poo's. im feeding her jameswellbeloved,4times aday.would it be to rich for her? or shall i change to another one.she is 11wks now.
Does any one have any advice for me.
-
Was she wormed just before you got her? Could be that. Unlikely to be the JWB as its a good brand but what was she fed before she came to you? Perhaps a change has upset her stomach...
-
Mine are fed on JWB its a good food :luv: I would stick with the food for now, its unlikely to be too rich.
Mine have been on it for 12 years and its fab
If she is really bad give her rice and cooked chicken for 24 hours just small amounts or
You could try boiling alittle rice and adding to her food
Has she been wormed regularly ?
Hope she is better soon

Charlie had a tough of this just after he arrived with us. The breeder recommended a couple of days on rice and chicken only then back to normal food. Worked a treat - solids.

Thanks for the info, yeah all up to date with worming.i will be buying a chicken tomoz and try her with it with some rice.i will let you no how it goes. maria :D

Probably a combination of worming and the food change then. JWB is definitely better than wagg so i'd maybe give chicken and rice for a day or so then reintroduce the JWB.

So far things are looking more solid, since given ruby chicken & rice, fingers cross it stays solid now and not runny once i give her back her jwb tomorrow morning :005:

I agree that JWB is a good food, but my Barney could not have it, we persevered for nearly 2 months but in the end we had to change his food
-
Fingers crossed!!! Did the breeded give you some food for you to ween Ruby off from? Or did you go straight onto JWB??
My breeder gave me 2 weeks worth to Ween, although Alfie had terrible runny poo's, even milkshake like puddles! I was really worried...so i phoned up breeder and asked for advice, he said it could be being unsettled and nervy (even though he seems fine!) we gave him Chicken and rice until things firmed up and went vets for injection, told he had to wait until tummy was not upset anymore.
Then things were fine, we have been on Royal canin since. We have weened on and off JWB, although they loved the food, the royal canin suited there tummies better, and much firmer ppo's. Each pup is different but Royal Canin (vetinary kind) comes with a guarantee that your pup wont suffer kidney stones (or gall) cant remember and their coats were nicer on Royal Canin. So many ppl have different opinions and each suit there own dog in different ways. However, keep us up dated on Ruby xxxx

hiya. getting abit concerned now, still feeding ruby chicken & rice, poo's are semi >:(..the breeder did give me some food to go on with or if i was going to change and do it over 7 days.i think im going to change to canine science is that what its called :005: royal canine
-
Hi All. I have now had ruby on chicken & rice for nearly 24hrs,and poo still semi runny, also noticed abit of blood.I am going to change her food to royal canin.
What should i do next? i am really worried :'(
-
Could you possibly be over feeding her, I've noticed if my pups pig out they get runny poops. Feed 4 smaller portions and see how she goes. Also try adding a bit of slippery elm powder as that is good for binding them up. If putting on dry food mix to a paste with something, ie water or egg yolk and pour over and mix into dry food.
If she has got a bit of blood keep an eye on her as you obviously are doing and ring vets for their professional advice if it continues, may be just straining or a touch of colitis starting.
-
could be the worming - we've been having problems with runny poos since Dax was wormed at the end of June - vet job with pills settled it for a while but he is a bit loose today again :-\ so he could have been munchin on plants when with my oh ::) natural yoghurt is good as well for settling tums ;)
-
I had Smudge on Rice and boiled fish when he was a tiny with tummy probs, and that helped as did some pro-kolin squirted on his meal at least once a day, this is non prescription, I think chemists sell it, but I get mine online

Hi Everyone. :D
I took Ruby to my vets this morning, haf a check over.He has put her on antibiotics for 5days.he doe'snt think it colitis, just a bug, that puppys are prone to get(airborne)i cant remember the three names,he said.one sounds like jardine?
i have to feed her chicken & rice for a few days ...i mentioned about the food she is on jwb,and that i am thinking to change to royal canin,he said they are both made by the same company :o
lets hope the tabs do the trick, and me and family dont catch these bugs ph34r..Thanks every one for your advise :luv:
-
If chicken and rice is not doing the trick you could try white boiled fish and little rice  My dogs love the fish :luv:
My Rosie was very poorly a few weeks back with severe diawotsits , including loads of blood loss. :'(
The vet gave her antibiotics for 5 days, she had fish and rice in tiny amounts to start with, then we increased. After 5 days she was all good in the poo department.
Don't worry if Ruby does not go to the loo for a couple of days, I think we waited about 4 days before Rosie passed anything.
Thankfully they recover quickly, my Rosie is now back to a good weight after losing over 2kg during her poorly tummy.
Hoping your Ruby makes a speedy recovery, I'm sure the family will be fine  We have never got anything from the dogs in 25 years.
Take care Jo

Hi Jo. ive so far given ruby two lots of chicken & rice today, and she has'nt had the squirts :005: just a little poo, that was brown in colour and not yellow,so the tabs must be working :D i will have to try fish.Thankyou. maria
-
Thats really good news :luv: So pleased, I would very slowly introduce the JWB kibble again over a few days
Rosie loved her fish so much she now has white Coley mixed in at the weekends as a treat :luv: she sits by the microwave waiting for it to 'ping'
-
that is so sweet i can just see her now :rofl1:..im going to buy a few chicken wings tomorrow, and give her 1 the weekend :Dxxx

Hope she is coming along ok now......shouldnt be too long until Tummy is back to normal!!!
Didnt know that about Royal Canin and JWB, i get the vetinary edidtion RC. But JWB didnt suit my too at all!!! Its really strange if they are made by the same company. Although RC is alot dearer!!!
Keep us posted, wishing a speedy recovery!
