Title: Gooming costs???
Post by: triggpup on August 26, 2008, 08:01:18 PM
Hi everyone,
We`re in the process of looking for our first pup and I just wanted to know what I might expect to pay in terms of dog groomers. We`d want to have her clipped to keep it tidy although left with some length so she still looks like a cocker. Also how often do you need to do it? Tried finding out prices but without actually having a dog I`m finding it difficult. Anybody use a professional groomer?
Rachel

I used to have a lady visit me every six weeks for Rosie and paid £30.00 .. this included a full trim, bath, ears, anal glands, claws and teeth.  I thought this was extremely good value and the only reason that Rosie still had all her teeth at 15 y/o .. she was very prone to tartar no matter what diet she had, and even with the all that gunk being removed every six weeks she still needed 3 professional cleanings at the vets during her lifetime.  This lady also did everything at my house .. took me ages to find her as most groomers insist on taking your dog away - Rosie was very nervous so I wasn't having that!  This lady said from the outset that I could watch everything she did .. despite all the others saying that grooming a dog is impossible with the owner present!!  Sorry, but I'm very suspicious of any groomer that point blank refuses to let the owner be around!!

we've just got cassie back from her first groom at 7 months, she was just like a huge ball of fluffy, you couldnt see the dog for the fur, she had full works, clipped but left longer in parts, nails, face, tail, paws, top knot all trimmed and it cost £33 i think it'll cost less next time it was just because she needed A LOT of work done. The girl that did her trains her dog for agility at the place we take cassie for puppy classes and she is a complete dog lover, she didnt want to hand cassie back to me.

I think there have been similar posts on here about costs if you did a search i'm sure you'd find it, there is probably regional variations, i'm in northern ireland

He only goes every 12 weeks though.

we pay £26 for the full works, I don't have Roxy clipped all over but price is same if you do.  Have also paid £30 at a previous place.  it will probably vary as to where you are.  I'm in Leeds

I usually pay £22, thats a bath, all feathering and ears trimmed back inside and out.   Coco is groomed with a coat king, claws clipped and anal glands emptied.
