well we plucked up the courage last night to go and have a look at our local class, all be it minus the dog :lol2: Not sure what we were expecting, but they seem a nice informal group of people and you can go on the 'mat' as much or a little as you like during the night. Although much of what she was saying about the different types of shows and what you need to do to qualify for the next etc i didn't have a clue what she was talking about. Just hope we make it through next week ph34r without looking complete fools.

Sounds a lot more informative than the one we tried :shades: Have to admit we didn't go back because it was cliquey and just a series of mini shows but no advice offered, think it was there if you asked >:(
Good luck

We visited our local class last week and if Harriet is OK plan to go back tomorrow. They seemed really friendly, and they have a "match" night once a month where the dogs compete against each other for dog of the month. Once a year, the winners compete for dog of the year. It looked like good fun, and hope we will be able to go regularly - the lady I sat next to had American Cockers and it turned out she was not only a breeder, but has also judged and is very very knowledgeable. (Sp???) Her cockers were :luv: :luv: :luv: and they loved Harriet.

Penny was it the Detling Ringcraft you went to? My brother and sister in law are on the committee and help to run it, they have golden retrievers.

It was Detling and I was really impressed.... They were all so friendly, from the phone call I made to ask about it, to the actual evening there.
One of the ladies on the desk said she knew me from somewhere, and I must admit I didn't recognise her. We eventually back tracked and she said Matthew and Suki had often beaten her in the show ring (fun and companion showing) - she knew Suki without even having her with me, as we only took Harriet.
It was really nice. I just hope Harri is ok tomorrow and can go along - if not we will be there next Friday!

We braved it back last night this time with both dogs. Ok Remy can ever only do the fun classes but i would be good if she learnt some of what the 'professional doggies' need to do also. Remy on the other hand was not to impressed with the idea and it was hard work with her last night, she nearly fell of the table a couple of times ph34r
Jade on the other hand has got the whole situation figured out - the table is so the smaller dogs can get closser to the judge to give them kisses :005: :005: :005:
