Post by: harrison on September 11, 2008, 07:09:46 PM
hello to all my name is peter, this is my first posting here. i am looking to give a home to a cocker spanniel. about 2 years old, maybe older depends on dog. i have an 11 year old springer that we took in at the age of 5yrs. he`s ok with other dogs gets a bit jealous sometimes, but good natured. we also have a couple of cats. i live in surrey. i have registared with cocker rescue but they pointed me here so i thought i`d give it a try. thanks peter

Rescue dogs can be a bit of an unknown quantity sometimes; their ancestry may be unknown, and could be mixture of show-working  :-\
I don't think that it is unfair to say that dogs which end up in rescue tend to be those which have not been bred responsibly - so it is less likely that they have been bred with consideration given to temperament, regardless of ancestry/strain  :-\

Your best bet is to keep watching the rescue board here and if you see a dog you think might be suitable then the rescue details are always posted with it so you can give them a call to discuss the dog further. That's how I found Tilly, somebody put a thread on her on here and I rang the rescue as soon as I saw it. Another site which you could look at is www.dogpages.org.uk which is the largest dog rehoming site in the country and is updated every day. Good luck!

Good luck! I met Finn when I stayed at Jo's for a few days recently and he's a nice boy.
