Title: Sammie (piggy)
Post by: LynseyAndChester on December 01, 2008, 12:13:24 AM
My poor poor piggy, Sammie, passed away yesterday. He would have been 9 in January.

My mum came downstairs at half 8 to find him lying on his side, having some kind of fit. When he stopped, we picked him up and placed him on a cushion on our laps, thinking he was gone. But he blinked and his chest kept on inflating and deflating. 3 hours later, he's still going, but the blinking had stopped and the breathing was struggled and infrequent. I left him for a second to go to the bathroom and mum called me down. He was gone.  :'(

We bought him for my grandad after he fell in love with our own piggy, I still remember his face when I handed him to him.

My grandad (Bob) passed away nearly 4 years ago (cancer) and I promised him I'd look after Sammie. He was 5 at this point, didn't think we'd have him long. Yet 3 1/2 years later, he was still dancing away when he was hungry, quite happy to let the dogs sniff at him, listen to me talk to him about my grandad. Sammie was definately not just a guinea pig. He was the last link to my grandad and losing him was even harder than I imagined. Even Chester misses him, he sits where Sammie's cage was and cries. I never realised how much of an impact he had on our home until today.

He's with his daddy now, sat on his lap with a great big tomato, whooping away and being cuddled silly.

I'll miss you Sammie, cuddle Bob for me.
