Title: vets on a b/hol or ok to wait until tues?
Post by: LinzHenz on April 12, 2009, 11:38:16 PM
What do you reckon I should do here:
Henry was sick in the morning on Friday (first thing after waking up), it was yellow and frothy. Friday he had diahorrea but was fine in himself, eating, drinking and playing as normal. Saturday is poohs were runny and on the afternoon walk looked a bit reddish. And he kept going even though there wasnt much coming out. Today poohs still runny, some reddish bits but not in every pooh. Again, absolutly normal in himself. If I didnt look at the poohs i wouldnt know anything was diff with him.
Chicken and rice for 3 meals now. Hasnt eaten anything different other than some chappy in a kong on friday.
Do you reckon it's ok to wait until tues to take him to the vets? obviously if he started to show any other signs i'd be there straight away

hmmm that's a tricky one - the dark red bits in his poo could be undigested blood and could mean that Henry is having a bout of colitis.

I would see how he is tomorrow before calling the vet, and would change from chicken and rice to white fish and rice (chicken is a harder protein for some dogs to digest than fish ;) )

thanks for that advice. will get some fish tomorrow. i thought maybe colitis as well (internet vet website) although the sick description could be gastritis. it's some kinda '...itis'  :005:

see how the little chap is tomorrow

Sounds like something Millie had a few weeks ago. I can't remember what flavour food she was on but I got some natural yoghurt and she was fine in a day or so. If your vets are 24 hours then you could always ring for advice ;)

just rang the vet and they said to starve him for 18 hours  :o and bring him in tomorrow if he's no better
bless him he's still lively and there was no blood in the watery poo this a.m.
think i might have to eat all my meals out today - damn good excuse!!!  :005:

Poor baby :luv:  I agree with Helen.  I always use fish instead of chicken
