Title: Lucy has a lump
Post by: hamfam on June 23, 2009, 09:58:46 PM
Vet time again >:(

We have discovered a lump in lucy's neck just below the hinge of her jaw. She has been to see the vet today and is on a course of antibiotics and will be seen again on Monday - if it goes down then it is glandular and nothing to worry about, if not then he will remove it on Tuesday ph34r.

I'm hoping it is glandular as it seemed to suddenly appear but the vet says it is likely to have been there for some time

If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it, she seems happy enough in herself but i cant help worrying.

We have all fingers and paws crossed here for Lucy that the lump turns out to be glandular.

I know how you feel, I remember one night stroking my last cocker, Sophie, and feeling a lump on her chest.  I was beside myself and went through every scenario I could think off.  It turned out to be a fatty lump that the vet didn't even bother to send off to be tested.

Thinking of you both and looking forward to good news.  Please give Lucy a hug from me and Ellie.

Fingers crossed here too  ;)
Dylie had a lump removed last year, so I know what goes through your head  :shades:
Happy as larry now, and none the wiser for it (apart from his plums being removed at the same time, so he might have guessed I s'pose  :shades:)

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid Derek, but sending lots of positive 'it's just a gland' thoughts. Really hope little Lucy is ok and sorted out really quickly.

Big hugs from Dave too - although she probably doesn't want those  ph34r

rolo had this . it took 2 lots of antibiotics to clear . his was huge . then about a month later it came back. more anti bs.
the young vet I saw put the fear in me as he mentioned the nasties 1st. turned out to be infection tho.
how are lucys teeth and gums? as any disease there ie gingivitis can set this off.
Rolo had caught kennel cough as all  my 3 did . they all got over it fine and Rolo was the only one to have glandular involvement which was weeks later but the only thing I could think of to set it off. as your vet said it might have been brewing for a while.
best of luck to you, I can still remember how scared I was.  :luv:

Aah Derek, I am so sorry that Lucy is poorly, I really hope it turns out to be glandular and goes away on its own.  I was wondering whether it might be connected to her teeth.

Cocoa sends lots of love and licks to her lil half sister. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes  :luv: , Lucy is fine in herself and the lump does not seem to trouble her in any way. She has had smelly chops on and off recently and i have been bathing them with hibiscrub, Helen mentioned this to the vet and whilst he said that it was possible it could be teeth related he could not see anything wrong

We think (hope?) that the lump is a little smaller today and are keeping everything crossed for the antibiotics, in the meantime Lucy is making the most of all the extra attention and cuddles she is getting :luv:

Well, so she should!

I do hope it is getting smaller, and that it carries on doing so.

That's great, hope it does disappear. Still, she doesn't need to have an excuse in order for you to be spoiling her! :luv:
