Jaspers feeling very sorry for himself at the moment.
Yesterday I found a grass seed tucked right up in the top of a front long hidden by a bit of a matt. Can't believe I hadn't found it but was able to withdraw it and clean it up, that looks OK today BUT it seems like there might of been one in the paw too, I got home today to find he'd been chewing his paw all morning and it was bleeding by the time I came in at lunch time. :'(
I've cleaned him up and I can see a small puncture wound. Appointment booked at the vets for tomorrow as he seems really out of sorts with it too. Hope there's nothing too serious going on.
Suppose we're lucky that it's the first time we've had a problem with the >:D grass seeds..
So back to the hibiscrub and might have to have collar on while I'm away at work. :-\

Poor Jasper, those grass seeds are horrible. I hope that's all that's wrong with him.

I know how you feel though.....when I groomed Livie the other day i found quite a few grass seeds in her coat & being more white than orange seems to make them invisible to the eye ph34r :shades:

Just had a good look under brighter light and I think that the blood must of been from an abcess at the puncture wound I had found as nothing else obvious to have been a wound site. Hope that means that anything nasty came out with it too ;)

ouch , hope Jasper gets on OK ;)
Aidee had a seed in between two toes last Friday >:D luckily there was enough still sticking out that I could get hold of and get it all out! He sems to be OK now, but am watching him closely ;)

Thank you for all the good wishes, he's still looking really sorry for himself :'(
I bandaged him up this morning so that he couldn't lick the foot, by lunchtime when I came home, it had bled a fair amount and he didn't want to walk so I changed over to the big collar so some air could get to his foot and not his tongue but he went outside, plonked himself down and wouldn't go any further till I took the flaming thing off.
I've just taken the other two out for a run and left a sock on him which was soaked in blood when I got back.
I'm hoping that the blood is because the seeds pushed out, it's a good clear red :-\ Vets appointment at 5pm so will update after I've seen them.
Why does it always happen to Jasper, he can give the most sorrowful face of the three when there isn't anything wrong and so you can imagine how he's looking at the moment ::)

Oh poor Jasper.
It does seem to be a lot of blood for an abscess.
I hope that is all it is. If so, then it is good that it's draining, I suppose. Bit of a mess though.

Poor Jasper, I hope he got on ok at the vet :luv: We've never had a seed in the paw (touch wood) but I pulled a huge one out of Rodaidh's eye on our walk just now, I'm glad I saw it before it got any further in :o

Betty had a huge grass seed stuck in a matt on the top of her paw on Sunday. I pulled it out but her paw was really red and swollen. She ended up with antibiotics, metacam and a shaved paw which looks really weird. I got some silica as well just in case.

He's got to go back to vets in the morning as it's gone in a bit too far to fish out. Minor op so no breakfast but I've asked them to have a go at his annal glands whilst sedated too.... In for a penny!
I think we've been lucky, never had a problem before but the vet was saying they've had lots in this week (particularly spaniels), seems the seeds have hardened earlier this year and look like might be a greater problem and earlier than usual :-\

I have never understood what everyone meant about grass seeds as I had never seen one. Until the other day when Ellie was covered in them, I spent ages picking them off her. Gave OH a lesson is what they looked like and how important it was to get her to the Vets if he thought one had gone in her somewhere, particularly her ear. Think I got through!
Hope everything goes well for Jasper tomorrow, will be thinking of him.

From one orange friend to another, hope you are on the mend. Muppet had one in her ear two weeks ago, first time for us too. I quck trip to the vets and £93 later all was well!

Unfortunately another test yesterday also revealed that there is a further deterioration in his right eye tear production taking us a step closer to medication for life :'( His tear production is now down to 13.
He's only 4 so could mean a long time to preserve his sight. BUT I do know that we're lucky it isn't a life threatening illness unlike others here and for that I'm grateful.
The Metacam has wore off this morning and he can't have breakfast so one sad dog this morning :shades:

Just had a call from the vets, he's fine and they found the seed :D bandaged up and coming home at 3pm......
Now to find the insurance as looks like my credit card may need bending :shades:
