in our area they seem to vary from £21 to £30 for a consultation fee, I think this is a huge dierence, I was wondering how much it varies around the country, so how much does yours charge and where abouts are you?
-
Ours charges 26. (sorry my pound sign is not working ph34r) We are in South Wales ;)
-
Mine charges £28 inc. VAT for a first consultation, £21 for a second consultation and about £13 for any subsequent consultations.
I'm in Hampshire and use a fairly small practice.
-
I think ours is about £26 for first consultation, just down the road from you Deb, but when we were up in Scotland we were charged something silly like £7.50! Seems daft really.
-
£14 ph34r :o
-
Ours is £25 for first consulation then slightly cheaper for the second. I am in Staffordshire. There are probably cheaper vets but this one is so convenient and I like them too.
-
I'm up in Scotland and ours is £18.50 for the first 3 consults relating to same condition then it gets reduced to about £15-ish.
-
Hi there I am up in Scotland too and took zoe for a checkover etc today and it was FREE :o yup FREE
-
Ssssssssh ph34r Everyone will want to come and live in Scotland :lol2: :lol2:
-
£27 for the first consult,£20 for the second >:(
We are Kent/London borders

I don;t think you pay consultation fees for that stuff as they are fix priced, it is anything else that you pay consultations for, like taking your dog in with a limp etc, the consultation fee is for the vet to diagnose what is wrong
-
We dont pay consultation fee's just for the treatment etc - first course of jabs £15 ...scotland here also ;)
-
about £12 in East Yorkshire
-
dont get charged consultation fee - just for treatments and prescriptions now. but my vet is used to me and i get the treatments off the net, so he must not make a living from me!!!!!!! plus i paid for the lifetime jabs with their first innoculations. so i go once a year for boostersand it costs..........................................nowt!
-
£28 before the vet even lays hand on the dog in central Edinburgh although I'm in the process of looking for a new vet now that we've moved and hopefully they'll be a bit less of a rip off :lol2:
The vet my parents use in NI and the one I take my lot to if they need it when we're there charges £8 for a consultation, the fees there are so cheap compared to what I pay here and usually she only charges us for materials, medication etc. as we've been taking our dogs there for over 20 years, she's such a fab vet too.
-
Must be something about Edinburgh - I paid £29 something on Monday ::).
-
£25 1st visit then £20 then £15 but vet usually just charges me £15 cos I'm there so much with my 4 and fosters.
-
I pay £26/7 too, in South Devon. Same as others tho, I'm sure there are probably cheaper vets around, but I really like the one I go to, and I trust them, which goes a long way!
-
We pay £27 (fabulous vet) and we are in Inner London - I thought London was supposed to be expensive ;)
-
No consultation fee here either :D - Scotland too
-
Around the £25 mark here (Kent) before they lay a hand on the dog. Same vet/same amount of time charges £8 to see my guinea pigs - why?? ph34r
-
...and sometimes we leave without paying anything! They just tell us to pay next time...dont know what that says about us and how often we visit the vets though!! :lol2:
-
£18 (Nottingham) everytime I visit, apart from if I see the nurse (Weight/Flea treatment) then she's free. Someone mentioned the injection for life with the 1st vaccinations, well can you still have the offer at the 1st year booster as I wasn't offered the Vaccine for life when Jay had his first vaccinations >:(
-
Mine charge £29.50 for 1st consultation. I am in South Leicestershire
Seems a bit steep compared to some of you

You probably use the same vets as us then :D although I had it in my head that it was in excess of £30 - will fish out a receipt to check

Yes you might be right, I think that it might have just gone up
Is your's part of a group?

£8 - and he'll throw in emptying anal glands at the same time for free. The practice is in Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. But it is mainly a large animal practice and anything that requires more sophisticated equipment means a referral to Penrith or even to the vet hospital in Northumberland. Still a darned good vet though.

You lucky thing.....sounds like a great practise.
I live in West Yorkshire....and the prices are very high. Ours are £30, getting a little lower for subsequent visits.
-
I would have said the consultation fee where I am in Essex was £25 - £30 - that is what I was paying for Rosie. I've taken Grace to a different vet that is just around the corner and gives much longer consult times and they charge just £18!!! Spaying is also listed at just £96!!! Gracie has just had her second injection - both visits came to a total of £35 - I'm impressed :)
-
Wow! Advertise these Saints names where did you find them? :D Even up here we are around the £25 mark for consultation alone. >:(
-
We are about £20 I think. I ours is much cheaper than others round here and I know 2 people that have switched to our practice when we compared prices. They are a really good vet but a small practice with no glitz and glamour so you aren't paying for a posh waiting room etc ;)
-
Charley's vet has just charged £21.15 for consultation.
I had to pay £322.40 for his op yesterday, and it will be £10.50 for his dressing changes.
-
I paid £38 for consultation last week when Cody was bitten then a further £8 for medication. I thought this was a little steep, it was my usual vets (same vet) but in a different town. It was also a last minute appointment so not sure whether that made a difference or not. I will check next time I have to go. (HOPEFULLY NOT FOR A WHILE!)
