To my beautiful, beloved, Fizzy the dobie :luv:. This has been one of the saddest days of my life as tonight you went to the Rainbow Bridge, where I hope grandad is waiting to throw tennis balls for you, and where you can play tag with Candy & Holly the cockers, and Khan the dobie. You were doing so well with your AIHA, but when they told me that your liver was failing, and they could do biopsies, scans etc, etc and possibly be able to treat whatever was causing it, I looked in your eyes and knew I couldn't put you through all that again for maybe an extra couple of months. You really weren't feeling well, didn't want to get up or eat and could hardly walk, and I knew you felt ashamed that you couldn't always make it to the garden for the loo. Although I could see the love for me shining out of your eyes, your zest for life was gone.
Please forgive me for booking that appointment, but when your eyes said 'I feel really poorly, make it stop mum' I just had to put aside my feelings, and think of you. I had to ask the vet again when we got there as I kept thinking you'd perk up, but he said you would only get worse and I couldn't bear for you to feel worse than you did. I'm glad we were there with you, and that you had the taste of Milky Way in your mouth and I held your beautiful face in my hands as you slipped away. I didn't think I'd made the right decision, but sitting here now I know I did.
I will miss so much about you - your kisses (I'm surprised you weren't bald from the kisses we gave you!) your snuggling up to me, hogging the bed and the sofa, your presence whenever there was food, barking at the fireworks and chasing the cats and squirrels in the garden. Your gentleness with other dogs and puppies and children and anyone who came into our house. We had many, many happy times together, and you will always be there in my heart and my mind. My friends and family are devastated you are gone, as am I and my DD. I think Tiffy will miss you too.
Goodnight and sleep tight my sweet child, till we meet again and I can kiss those luscious whiskery cheeks of yours.
