Please move if in the wrong place. Bonnie Boo has always been one to eat poo (apart from her own ) Dog poo,cow poo,deer poo, she is quite selective where Dog poo in concerned and can walk past a dozen and not bother then pounce on one and its gone before I get the chance to get it. At first I was really paranoid about this but as it doesn't seem to cause her too much trouble tummy wise I have decided that other than muzzle her there is not a lot I can do especially as she is off lead a lot of the time. She eats well (burns) and is in good health.
I think what I am looking for is reassurance that letting things be is the right approach.

I think other than limiting kisses from her :005: I would make sure she was wormed regularly just to be on the safe side.
I've moved this to Health as it's more about potential health issues from poo eating rather than stopping her doing it.

Agree with Nicola ;) Coco did eventually grow out of the dog poo thing apart from the odd one - I think it is down to what the other dog is fed, Hills seems to be particularly appealing to her. :020: I did try and deter her from eating her own and other dogs' by offering her a treat and saying a firm "no" - though knowing my little monkey that had nothing to do with why she has stopped ::) :005:

Both Dylan and Jessie are both dog poo eaters. They leave some and some they will go for. They have never ever touched their own or each others. Perhaps there is something in the poo that has not been picked up that is attractive. They both were fed Burns as puppies and adults but not now, think the behaviour has become too ingrained to stop it. I have tried numerous things to stop it. I make sure they are wormed every three months.

Inca's 4 months now and eats hers from time to time, sometimes she will eat it straight away once she's done it, and other times ahe'll just ignore it. I am hoping she grows out of it but touch wood hasn't eaten any other poo. x x x x

Millie eats her own poo, don't know what is going on with her as she seems to eat more of it now she is older, she will be 15 years old in April so i don't think she will grow out of it. :005:

I've got 2 that will eat poo..... :020:
Moo-Moo will eat Chloe's and Truda's and Chloe will eat Truda's but not Moo-Moo's! .
Truda will do her bit and then trundle in gingerly whilst I am chasing round the garden to stop the other 2 from having a right good munch.
I was hoping they'd grow out of it but Chloe is 9 and Moo nearly 5.

Smudge used to eat Suzie's given the chance, but seemed to stop when I put some of the meat that she was having on his dinner.
Katie will still eat Smudge's, and I used to worry and try to race her to it, but gave up in the end. (thought maybe if I did not make a fuss, the fun of it would be lost) I do still pick it up if I can. She is a fussy madam and only likes it warm.
I don't let either of them 'kiss' me as I hate to think what else they may have chanced upon :o

I used to be very smug about how mine never ate poo or rolled in any smelly fox stuff :angel:
Unfortunately in the last month Woofie has let me down and apparently frozen poo is the tastiest thing ever!!! :020:

Jo Jo was a very keen eater of this doggy delicacy, especially when she was a pupster :020: She is coming upto 5 years old in the spring, and her taste's seemed to have matured slightly, and nowadays she very rarely indulges :005:
Alfie & Nina don't really bother though, apart from the odd mouthful of horse's poo :011: Its strange how they are all so different. ;)

Looking back on other threads on this subject i noticed one from Cinders who said that regularly feedind pineapple stopped the poo eating. Any thoughts on this ?

The pineapple is (I think) to stop them eating their own poo....

My dog was a poop eater, I'd like to say it was my consistent and wonderful training that eventually stopped him :005: but I reckon it was pineapple.

Judi ate her own when she was a pup. We gave her additive pills which were supposed to stop her liking the taste of it, which may have helped, but I think mostly she grew out of it, and she hardly ever paid attention to other dog's. She's never grown out of fox or horse poo though, nor decaying carcasses of dead things.
