Title: how much
Post by: jackieant on February 05, 2010, 11:32:10 PM
hi charlie is one in a couple of weeks and fingers crossed, finally got him settled on lamb and rice arden grange adult food.
we have tried quite a few different ones over last few months but now sorted ;)
thing is, i think it says something like 247 grams for adult dog 15k, but am giving him about 150 on a morning and 150 on a night mixed with some tinned too, but he eats the lot and i think would eat more if it was there!
how much do others eat of similar age?

Some dogs will eat as much as you put for them (and more)  :005: :005:

sounds like quite a good portion he is having, so think I would be guided by Charlies bodyweight and condition,  if he is putting weight on then, personally I would feed a bit less and likewise if loosing weight a bit more ;)

The bag only displays guidelines as each dogs needs are different ;)

Thats my opinion anyway

I agree - Coco would eat the whole bag if you put it in front of her  ::)  I would just go by his weight and condition.  As long as you can feel his ribs easily but not see them and from above he has a clear waist, he should be fine.  Some dogs, like people, can eat more without putting on too much weight  :-\

Mason only has one kibble meal a day as he has raw for his second meal. He gets 90g of AG for his breakfast.

I think if you are mixing in tinned food too then your portion size is maybe a little large.   Charlie may be alright weight wise right now but it can quickly and easily change.
