I need some advice please. Lily keeps getting an upset stomach . (loose stools not sick) She is not off her food and is lively. I was not worried untill someone mentioned that their dog was like that and had been diagnosed with cancer. Do I need to take her to the vets. Any advise welcome thanks.

how old is she? what do you feed her? is she stressed?
there are so many reasons for a bad tum tum it could be anything. Is there a pattern to it?

Dogs often have loose motions and there can be loads of reasons for it - reactions to food, scavenging, drinking manky water, hard exercise etc. If they fall ill with a bad bout of diarrohea and are passing blood or mucus then a vet trip is in order but if it's just loose motions in an otherwise healthy dog then the most likely cause is what they are eating - either scavenging or a reaction to their actual food. It's extremely unlikely to be anything serious in a young, healthy dog with no other symptoms so try not to worry too much about anything like that. I find with my lot their poo can change throughout the day, it tends to be firmer in the morning and looser as the day goes on, particularly if they've been running around a lot.

Thankyou for the reassurance.Iworry about her. Iwalk her on the beach and she is always in the water. Should Ikeep her off as it is not her natural environment. Thanks again.

oooh you cannot keep a cocker from water!!!! they love it.
I dont think there is an issue with taking her there but other COL people may have a view.

Salty water can affect their tummies, as can many other things they tend to pick up, including eating snow - it would be impossible to keep them away from everything. Eyes in the back of your head always useful, if not possible whilst taking cockers walkies ;)
