I know this topic has been done to death and I have search on it but at the risk of repeating here goes!
Our huge stock of food was nearing running out for the first time and we were in PAH looking at the food a few weeks ago when one of the assistants assisted! She asked how old Brody is (8 months) and said he should really be staying on puppy food until 12 months. (Brody is on Hills and it seems to suit him) We left with a view to ordering more over the internet and of course haven't got round to it and we now need to get some today.
So my question is (of course) do we stick with the puppy food as she and Hills suggest or move onto adult food? His weight is fine by the way. She listed reasons that went over my head why he should stay on the puppy food and I want to do the right thing by him.
Thank you in advance! :D

I think that is a lot of tosh to be honest. I changed my girls over at 6 months.

I think you should be fine with adult food.... it is more of an issue in larger breeds, where there is still a substantial amount of growing to do at 8 months, but I know Honey was about at her full size by 7 months, with just some filling out to do!! :D

I found that aswell i.e. it can depend on the type of dog food you have chosen and what the manufacturer says.
One food I had my cockers on, a rep for that company insisted that the puppy would need the extra protein (30%) and that the puppy should stay on puppy food for 12 months before switching over to adult food.
The food I have my dogs on now only has 20% protein and they believe a puppy should switch over to adult food at 6 months. I am actually getting a new pup in 5 weeks (not counting ;)) and that's what I'll be doing.
Also some manufacturers have Senior foods while others don't. Who is right? It can be confusing.
Anyways when I get my new pup I am going to switch her onto Adult food at 6 months.
