Just as he's just about recovered from his dislocated hip, Jeff has got himself back in hospital :-\ This time he's got a blockage. We had a bbq yesterday and couldn't keep a close eye on him, and he has eaten something hard and nobbly (according to the vet). That's presumably on top of the kebab (and part stick) he pinched off Phil's plate and two beefburgers. He started looking very sorry for himself late afternoon and by the time we went to bed was unable to lay down and settle. I stayed awake worrying while he fidgeted and wimpered, and at 4am eventually gave up and phoned the vet. We took him to the hospital straight away and the vet confirmed he had eaten something. They xrayed him a couple of hours ago a found a "mass". They are now operating to remove it. Fortunately because I acted quickly he's in pretty good shape (still perky and well hydrated), so the outcome should be good, but it's a serious operation and I'm desparately worried about little tyke :'(

Well done you for acting so quickly - and all fingers and paws crossed for a good outcome for Jeff - cannot believe the run of bad luck he is having ..... These dogs, as natural scavengers, certainly give us the runaround sometimes don't they?
Will be thinking of you and Jeff and will wait with bated breath to hear of outcome.
Hugs to you - an anxious time waiting when you feel it is all out of your hands :bigarmhug:

Hope the op goes well and he's back home soon :luv:

Hope it all goes well.
Bloomin' dogs!

Oh no what a naughty boy eating all that! Lots of positive thoughts for Jeff today :luv: :luv:

 Vet has called and the op went well. He had not only eaten the kebab but the stick it was on! There was a 4-6 inch kebab stick in his tummy :o The vet has kept it for us. While he was under they also castrated him (at our request as he'd only need another GA in a few weeks time otherwise) and had to make 2 incisions as one of his testicles hadn't dropped, and they also found a little hernia which they fixed. So poor little chopped-up puppy is feeling rather sorry for himself. Hopefully he'll be home tomorrow.
-
Gosh, he has certainly had a surgical work-over - poor Jeff - but brilliant news that it went well.
Hope you manage to get to see him later? - and lots of tlc over the next few days once he is home.

Well, I pay with my Tesco Clubcard Visa, so at least I get points! I'm so glad I changed insurance from Tesco basic to Argos Platimum; at least I know I have £7000 a year for Jeff to fritter away and any follow up treatment (especially re. the hip) will be covered. This will be a great test to see how well Argos pays up; will post results on insurance section.

Poor Jeff, what a run of bad luck. Glad he is OK and hope his recovery is speedy and uneventful! :luv:

I was with Argos for years with Millie and never had any problems with payment, they did not do the Platinum one when we joined so we started on the gold but as she got older and it got more expensive we dropped down to silver.
Hope Jeff is feeling better soon :luv:

Jeff the Patchwork Puppy is home :luv: Obviously he's very subdued and a bit whimpery, but clearly glad to be home, and Annie is very happy to see him.

So glad he's home - I'm sure he'll feel better being with you!

How is little Jeff today? :shades:

Jeff is absolutely fine now - almost as soon as he got home he changed back to old bonkers Jeff. It'll still be a few days before he can go walkies and his last check up is on Wednesday. It's amazing how he has bounced back, and how unaffected he seems to have been by the whole thing. I just pray that he stays out of trouble from now on as the last three weeks have been very stressful for us even if not for Jeff! Thanks again for your support - it's been great to have a sympathetic "ear".
-
Wonderful news - so pleased he is back to 'normal' :005:
At times like this I say thank heavens for our vets - yes it can seem expensive at times, and yes there are occasions when a diagnosis seems so elusive that you wonder what on earth they did all those years at Vet School, but boy oh boy wouldn't we just pay them the earth when they can sort out things like this?
Enjoy your time with a fully repaired Jeff and I hope there is a period of calmer life ahead for you for a while!
-
Thats wonderful news. :shades: :luv:
Really hope Jeff doesn't see the vet for a very long time now. ;)
-
Good news about Jeff,.....hope he doesn't go sampling any BBQ's again in a hurry >:D
