I have been told Bakers is not really good for your puppy/dog, got to many colourings, additives etc is this right.

Yes. exactly right! There are lots of threads that explain the ins and outs of good quality food if you do a search.
Look for something more natural with a high meat content. Burns and James Wellbeloved (JWB) are quite well known but there are lots around.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be around with some more names soon!

Bonkers bakers is what we call it - think of a kid on a sugar high and you will just about have the potential impacts.... glazed eyes, no attention span and bouncing off the walls are one of the giveaways we have seen...
-
tis not good, low grade ingredients, preservatives, colours, fillers and lots of sugar!

hi ya giving your dog bakers is the same as giving your child a pack of smarties! its full of colourings, addatives and bad stuff! its a no go area. use a more hypoallergenic or organic food full of goodness such as burns, jwb or barking heads.

i would back up Simonandmandy 100%. Before my COL days, i fed Taz on Bakers, then on the recommendation of the vet changed him to Hills Scientific - he was a completely different dog almost overnight. His attention span much better, less manic. Fortunately he was only about 10 months old at the time, so hopefully no long lasting damage (although some days i wonder :005:)

I have deciced against it i have one A.D.H.D child don't need another :005: I have put him on Beta puppy i find JWB a little expensive at the moment along with the other good foods that have high meat, i also have been told that beta has 14% meat so should be ok with it, also got told that pups shouldn really eat beef or pork??? Someone told me from P@H... So much info knowing what's right and wrong.

Unless a dog is intolerant, there is no reason why they shouldn't eat beef or pork. ;)
I doubt the staff at P@H get much actual nutrition training... :shades:
Honey's on a raw diet, and regularly eats pork... and occassionally beef. :D

If you're looking for something more affordable then i'd recommend Autarky, usually around £20 ish for 15kg though you can get it cheaper, and it has a higher meat content than Beta, along with no nasty additives. ;)
