Title: Nutro causing hyperactivity?
Post by: Harvey the cocker on April 21, 2010, 09:27:54 AM
I'm not a great believer in feeding one type of dog food for years on end
as I don't think they would get all they need etc
so I change the food every 6/8 months swapping between Burns/Royal Canin/arden grange
but a couple of months ago I was offered 4 x 15kg sacks of Nutro adult for £60 which I bought
as I have four dogs & its not going to last that long!

But I have noticed harvey has had much more "Beanies" since being fed on this although it could be he has settled in
& we are getting more of his personality through

I will be posting on the training/behaviour section in a min to see if I am doing something wrong  :-\

I thought Nutro had ceased trading in the UK? :-\    If it were me I would choose one food and stick to it.  They will be getting everything they need from a good quality food so no reason to keep changing.  Unless you feel you want to vary their diet in which case why not just add a bit of Nature Diet or sardines?

Not sure, they still sell it at the local shop unless its old stock they are selling off
My bags have a date of september this year,

I know what you are saying about dry food having all they need but I remember talking to a vet who specialised in nutrition a couple of years ago & he said that all animals/humans have different nutritional needs, so if you feed one type of food its possible that over time if that animal needs more than a particular vitamin inc in that food he/she could become deficient in it,

I spoke to varous food companies at paws in the park last year & they all agreed it was very possible but the majority do not feed their dog/cat on the same food for its entire life so it does not become a problem,

Its not a problem for me, the dogs seem to like the change, I do stick to Burns more than any other food & I change the flavour which would also help,

I've tried other makes but always end up back at Arden Grange. Pedigree gave them dry skin, Wainrights gave them upset tum, etc. Never have a problem with AG..I sound like an advert for them!
