Our baby boy still 'tooties on down' (as we day around here) :005: to go for a wee.
It's not really a problem apart from the fact he keeps weeing over his feet and so stinks (he is known as Smelly Welly!)
How old was your cocker boy when he started cocking his leg??
-
I have an 11 month old boy - Otto, he started cocking at about 7 -8 months - was very wobbly to start with. Sometimes now if he is tired he doesnt bother cocking!!
-
4 1/2 months old - he started early.
-
My Paisley is 4 and he still does girly ones :lol2: He has never cocked his leg just sort of leans forward ::)
Monty was 2 before he cocked his.
-
Rodaidh was already cocking when I got him at 5.5 months old and Alfie was about 4-5 months I think. Is Llewelyn castrated? Sometimes dogs that are neutered young don't tend to cock their legs (if they haven't already started when they're done).
-
Fred wasnt a regular 'cocker' until we got Kooki (he was 18 months at the time) and now he does a mixture of cocks and squats depending on where he is aiming for-the astro turf is always a squatting zone but the washing line and my lavender bushes are a cockers 'cocking heaven'
-
My goldie Bracken is 13 and he has never done the manly thing
-
Does it depends if they have another dog to copy? Odie is the only one at home so doesn't do it yet but my brother's castrated border terrier pup cocked his leg at around 4 months old as he lived with 2 other dogs. Mind you, I've just had Charlie whippet out for a walk and he always cocks, this time obviously couldn't be bothered and swatted :005: Lesley

Maybe some of them imitate other dogs but I didn't have another dog when I got Alfie, he just did it of his own accord, a little bit too enthusiastically the first time cos he keeled over sideways :005:

:lol2: good on ya Alfie :luv: :luv:
not in Jarv's case either, he's an 'only' dog ;)
-
No cocking here so far either. I wonder if they dont have another dog to copy they just do what comes naturally, but if they have a girl to copy they just copy her instead and dont get round to cocking :005:? Who knows :dunno: :005: xxx

Alfie was about 8/9 months when he first cocked his leg & then promptly toppled over  At the time he was our only dog & i'm pretty sure sometimes he wishes he still was. :005: :luv:
-
William is 6 years old and still "curtseys" to pee more often than not, although I've noticed a bit more cocking since Louis has been around :005: Louis started cocking at about 4 or 5 months I think.
-
Roly was about 5 months when he did it for the first time, but only started doing it regularly at about a year old.
-
Harv was about 5 or 6 months, he had the wobbles :005:
Harv now cocks his leg in public but if he is desperate or at home outta sight he still girlie squats
-
Paddy is 7 and still does it like a girly! Murphy is younger than Paddy but he cocks his leg. :D
-
Harry is 13 months & can cock & will do when he pees after Max, but alot of the time he still pees like a girl :005: & he's so impatient too so will start running again before he's finished so like Llewelyn often ends up with it everywhere ::)

This exactly what my old boy Harvey used to do - and also Louis!!!
-
I think Eric was about 11 months. He always cocks in public but when he is at home he starts to squat and then remembers mid pee that he is a boy and cocks ::) He is always cocking on Lucy's head when she has been sniffing interesting things which must be the joy of being a big brother :005: :005:
-
Branston at 10 months is still a squatter :luv: - despite being entire and also having BIG BRO Sparky-Dog who always cocks (even into mid-air if necessary!) - Branny prefers to copy Pickle-Puppy. Trouble is because he is always following in Spark's wake he quite often runs into the stream of Sparky's pee - YUK!

Until Alfie, we'd just about always had bitches so I can't say. However, we had a springer bitch who cocked her leg all her life. Does that count? :005: :005:
-
From memory I think Monty was just short of his first birthday before he cocked his leg (just!), but whilst he will do the odd half cock when out on walks most of the time he is another squatter! :005:
-
Barney Boo is another squatter most of the time. He had his first cock at about 10 months and we were so proud (first time doggy parents!). He cocks more when we're out than at home but the best times are when he squats and then cocks his leg at the end just to show he can if he wants to
-
Alfie was 22 months and now is rather over enthusiastic to say the least :005: he pee'd up my legs the last show we were at in the ring ::) Anything that is still is a target :005:
Lenny is now 16 months and still does girlie ones :luv:
-
Ahh I think thats rather cute...copying his lovely big sister
-
My little boy defienately learned from copying. We used to walk with a serial leg cocker (who happened to be a girl dog) and Dexter used to follow her round cocking on all the bushes she did but not weeing. He worked it out at about 5 months.
He is always cocking on Lucy's head when she has been sniffing interesting things which must be the joy of being a big brother :005: :005:
Dexter does this to Clover. When we first brough her home she was sat in the garden and he went over to have a sniff and then he weed on her. He looked at me as if to say "thanks for this new weeing post" and then went back inside. They are lovely arent they. :005:

Robson's still does girlie wees and he will be 1 on Saturday. Can't remember exactly how old Barney was when he started to cock but it was definately way into his 1st year. Once he got the hang of it there was no stopping him until he was castrated. Post castration he lifted his leg and as he'd had loads of stitches due to undescended testicle it must have hurt and reverted to squatting for ages after that. Now he does a mixture of squats and cocks, depends on what he's aiming for :005:
-
I think Eddie was definitely a 'copier'! He first did it at about 7 or 8 months I think - we'd rather given up hope he'd ever do it - and then we visited my brother and his Lab went in the garden and did it, and Eddie immediately followed suit in the exact spot (albeit a bit wobbly!!).... he only squats now if he needs a seriously lengthy wee!! :005:
-
Duke is coming up for 7 months and he is showing no signs of cocking just squatting :-\
Even thou i've started to have problems we him weeing in the house now, e didn do it up untill a few wk ago... Good job i have wooden floors starting to make me >:(

Hi
Matty, who we have had for a month, was aged as 2 at the rescue, 1 at the vets but is very small (16in foot to shoulder) squats, looks up and wiats for a 'good boy' if he doesnt get one he tries to come in front of you and squat on your shoe :005:

Douglas 9 months shows no interest in cocking his leg and Dennis was about 11 months before he started cocking his leg.
