So I have only 4 days to go before my Yuki joins me. Had a bit of a shock as title suggests about vaccination costs. I've checked the searches and seems I can't find relevant info ;)
The vet I'm registered with charges £76.49 :o for the course of puppy jabs? Is this the going rate? Money isn't an issue but is it worth shopping around or sticking with what I know?
I'm so excited! Its going to drag so much :'(
-
That seems expensive! ph34r
My vet charges about £40 from what I remember. What part of the country are you in?
-
That's about what we paid - but we did get the last one free as my last vets messed up...if we had paid, it would have been around that - our vet charges £21 before you even get in to the consulting room!
-
I'm on the Isle of Wight :lol2:
When I asked her how much after I booked the appointment I was a bit shocked lol Hmm I wonder how much the worming will be on top of that ph34r
-
I have only paid £43 for the full course
-
:o Pretty sure I only paid around £40 as well!
-
H_H - I'm on the Island too - and I'm guessing what surgery you're talking about - shall PM you :D
-
Ellie had to have her vaccinations started again (didn't have a complete set when she was a puppy). She had the first one a couple of weeks ago and that was £21 and she is due her 2nd shortly and that is another £20 or so.
£76 is that for life - I know some vets offer this.
-
Not sure >:( Will have to wait and see. Its one of the better vets here, so maybe I'm paying for the service lol
-
we paid £70.00 about 3 years ago - that was for life though.
-
My vet charges about £80 for a full course of vaccinations and that's a one-off, not for life. They're expensive but they're a really good vet (they'd need to be :005:). We're in Edinburgh.
-
I'm in New Milton, Hampshire, and my vet charges £31 for each jab, so the total is £62 (but the puppy check is free, and you get a month's free PetPlan insurance).
-
is seems to be quite a bit more expensive on the mainland! (i live in N.I.) it was £17.50 for each of Ellies injections ph34r
-
It does sound about average tbh. :shades: We are in Hampshire & our vets charged £37 for the one vaccine on Alfie 2 months ago. They do make me laugh though, because they def. add on more money for a supposed check up, which just consisted of weighing him!! :o
With a puppy though, they have their 1st vaccine & two weeks later they have a 2nd , so all in all i don't think your vet is hugely expensive.
I always order my wormers online, as the vet is quite a bit more expensive. ;)
-
My vet is charging £24 for Bellas 2nd jab; the breeder had the first one done. I'm in Gateshead.
-
I am in Staffordshire and I am sure it is around £40 up here so not too bad.
Get your wormers online its much cheaper, I dont buy "extras" from the vets as they are too expensive.
-
I'm in Lymington and each set of injections was £33 and we got the microchip half price if we had it done at the same time of the second injections.
-
I'm in good ole rip off Surrey. Mine were £90 for the set and not for life. The breeder said where she was it was only £38 :embarassed:
-
we charge about £50 for the full course. these 'for life' offers seem good at the first jab, but you have to pay a consultation fee each time you have your booster... what if you move?? or if the worst happens when your dog is a youngster??
just a thought...
-
When I registered Mason at our vets I joined their 'Vaccinate For Life' program - it cost £75 and that covers the cost of his jabs for the whole of his life.
-
I know it covers the vaccinations, but whenyou go to have it done do you not have to pay a consultation fee(this is the catch with a lot of them!)?? In the price of a booster we inculde a full physical health exam, nail clip/anal glands if needed.

I don't really see it as a 'catch'. I have paid for the meds upfront and combine vaccination date with his annual MOT too - which at any other time I would also have to pay a consultation fee for. To me it just gets it out of the way all at once :D
-
I,m taking my 2 8 week old pups Honey & Cherry for their first jab tomorrow,it is £25 per vaccination,2 in the course,so its £50(vat included)for the course, the yearly booster is £26.50 if its the full booster £22.50 if its half,
-
my 2 dogs are on the jabs for life programme. when we go for boosters, we have never had to pay a penny.
they get a full health check - weight, eyes, heart etc.
the vet will spend time and answer any questions.
i cannot recommend this scheme highly enough.
there is no consultation fee.

Thanks for the replies :D It interesting how much it varies all over the country. I have my suspicions its just a one off full course payment. I'll have to wait and see. Only 3 days to go :lol2:

Must say I shopped around before settling on a vet.
I took Tilly yesterday and for 2nd jab, kennel cough vaccine, worming tablets and some stuff for her ears it cost £47. I know the vets I chose do primary vacs for £25 and boosters are £29 (for standard ones - kennel cough is extra).
However, another vets I've used wanted £38 just for the second jab.
Both have more than one branch/hospital facilities/out of hours service so I've no idea how the prices vary so much. I'd pay more if one was a better service, but I don't think the more expensive vets is! I think where I live has an impact though - I'm in Sheffield and parts are very well off, but a lot isn't. The vets I went to yesterday seemed surprised to see a pup already 1st jab, microchipped and insured?!

Yes don't own a dog in Surrey! :005:
I see you blue roan girlie is called Yuki, that was the part of Tali's KC name that I chose so he is Yuki too :D

he he that's cool! Although is means snow doesn't it? and well she isn't white lol We have got her a snowflake name tag also :D
-
Yep and he was born during that heavy snow in January. All his littermates had different words for snow in different languagues, however his was the only Eastern name on the list so I chose that one :D

£38.17 for the two injections here in Bristol
