Title: humping children
Post by: Harveypops on June 23, 2010, 08:08:48 PM
Not all children I  should add.

Harvey is really good with kids, but he does tend to dry hump a few of them. Is this an indicator that he may need to be neutured- or will neuturing make o difference.

Thanks in advance  :D

The dog trainer I go to recons it can be a sign of fustration and offered this as an explaination as to why Dexter has a tendancy to hump any dog in sight when hes on a lead. It does explain alot for him. So now If i know Dexters going to be leaded around his play mates I always make a concious effort to let him get his play energy before hand and that is working very well at reducing his humping behaviour

In this case it maybe that hes using all his self control to behave calmly around children and the excited energy is showing itself in other (unfortunate) ways... :005:

No idea if neutoring would help other than theoretically calming him down abit.

I dont think Dog on human humping is for sexual reasons (although Im sure someone will disagree) and so you might be better trying a good play session with him before he interacts with children to see if a fustration thing

I don't think it's for sexual reasons either but it's cringe worthy to watch!
Thanks for the advice-will definitly try walking him before to see if that helps.

Mine do this occasionally to the children I look after when they come over and both of them are neutered.

Mole likes to shoulder barge and rub himself all over children  ph34r Baja will hump if they have been playing ball for a while and gets a bit excited!

Two out of my four who are all neutered still hump, and i certainly think there is nothing sexual in it.
Could be a learned behaviour that has got a reaction and become rewarding or frustration as mentioned.
