Poor Ruby couldn't walk on her front leg this morning - I thought it was odd when she didn't rush out of bed with Eddie to go in the garden when I got up - had to carry her out to the loo, and while she did eat some food she stood (wobbled) on three legs to eat it
Had to take an emergency day's leave and vet booked at 12pm - when i gently tried to feel her paw/leg over she shreiked liked a banshee when it bent and her joint seems a bit swollen, she's not moved all morning and looks very shell shocked and sorry for herself poor thing - I wonder what she can have done? She was fine when we went to bed :'(
-
Poor poor Ruby. Let us know how she gets on at the vet.
-
Oh no Tracey - poor Ruby :'(
Hope you get it sorted soon - could she have jumped off the bed and landed awkwardly?
-
Aw poor thing hope its nothing serious, she may have just slept funny
-
Poor Ruby :'(
I hope you get on OK at the vet. Fingers crossed it's just a sprain or something.
-
Hope everything is OK for poor Ruby. Fingers crossed for her at the vet appointment. :luv:

Thats what I thought :-\ Hope its nothing too serious, good luck at the vets, big hugs to you and Ruby :luv:

Bramble was walking on 3 legs yesterday, with her front right leg up, she had crate rest over night and seems back to normal this morning, gave her foot and pads a good check over she didn't yelp at all, thankfully though normal madness has been resumed today! :005:

Thanks guys - i'm none the wiser at the moment! Took her to the vet who has kept her in to sedate her and have a good look - it could be a grass seed gone up into her paw perhaps, or, as it seems to be her 'wrist' joint (what is that bit in a dog?) that's causing all the pain, if it's not a grass seed they are going to x-ray her for fracture/break.....poor love, I know she is in the best place but i hate leaving them behind for sedation (especially as she's had breakfast - vet said her leg/paw was too bad to leave until tomorrow).... please send Ruby COL get well wishes while i sit by the phone! :luv:
-
Oh gosh!
Poor Ruby, really hope it's something that can be easily and quickly sorted.. fingers crossed for you both :-* :-*
-
What a horrible shock for both of you. Fingers crossed that it's something less serious. Poor you - it's going to be a rotten day waiting.
-
Well that was quick! They've shaved her paw - she had a grass seed but on her fur rather than between her pads, so not that apparently, they've taken an x-ray and nothing showing, so the vet is stumped by the sounds of it as she cannot put any weight on her paw and went crazy when it was touched before sedation! Here's hoping it's just a sprain then and the anti-inflamatory and pain killer will help her feel better soon :dunno: Can collect her later so going to pop to the shops to while away a couple of hours and make something of the day's leave i've had to take! Glad I got it checked though :luv:

Poor Ruby. Good news it's not a break but a bit frustrating that they can't pin point what is wrong. Hope the meds and some rest help, sending gentle hugs to your gorgeous girl and Monty sends sloppy cocker kisses. :luv: xx
-
Awwww hope she's ok after some rest and the meds kick in ;)
-
Sending tons of get well wishes for little Ruby :luv:
Hope the vet can find the cause & it turns out to be nothing too serious :bigarmhug:

Frustrating indeed Sandra! Just back from vets - I need a lay down myself after the £240 bill (thank goodness for insurance) - they don't really know what's wrong though. It's clear she's in a lot of pain and can't put her leg on the floor - thankfully no foreign bodies in or around the paw and no break or fracture, so the only logical conclusion can be soft tissue sprain... absolutely fine when we went to bed so perhaps she jumped on/off something in the night and landed hard (we do have wooden floors)?.... anyway she's asleep on the sofa (her baby bro is actually taking notice of my stern 'leave her alone' voice and he's snuggled up behind her and settled down in sympathy! :luv:)... got pain meds, lots of rest and back to vet Wednesday - thanks for all your well wishes and i'll let you know how it goes

Heidi gave me a similar scare last year and turned out to be extreme cramp. Vets thought it was much more serious and couldn't find out what it was at the time :o
She now wears her "magnetic" coat in any situation where she might get an attack. (BACK ON TRACK ;)) Would of thought it would be wearing off by now if that was the cause though :-\
Hope you find out what's wrong soon :bigarmhug:

Poor Ruby - and poor you - it is really horrible when they get a sudden illness, and it's so frustrating when there doesn't as yet seem to be a straightforward explanation.
Gentle hugs to Ruby, and here's hoping that the meds kick in soon and if it is soft tissue damage I am sure things will begin to improve soon.
Hope you all have a quiet evening .....

..ditto the above
Hope Ruby feels better soon and Eddie continues to take special care of her :luv:

Poor Ruby, hope her meds make her more comfy and she is soon back on 4 paws :luv:
-
Glad it doesn't appear to be anything too serious, hope that the meds sort her out soon and it disappears as soon as it came ;)
-
Oh dear Tracey, sorry to hear about Ruby's leg, hopefully she has just jarred it and it will soon be on the mend. Glad that Eddie is looking after her,and snuggling up,a bit of heat therapy.
Hugs from me and Ebony and Rosie sends special squiggies to her pal :luv: (Rosie recommends a bit of hydrotheraphy)

Sorry to hear about poor Ruby hope the meds will help with pain and hope you both will get some sleep tonight and pleased she is quite settled.

How is Ruby this morning? Hope she is feeling a little better x

Hi Liz - she's feeling a bit better I think - effects of anaesthetic have completely worn off and the pain killers are kicking in so she's now able to hobble about on all four paws! She ate brekkie and managed to get herself outdoors for loo on her own. The trick now will be keeping her inactive for a week if the pain meds mean she's not feeling it so much ::) x

Fantastic news that she is on the mend :clapping: :clapping: - so pleased to hear that she is on the up, and I guess you are mightily relieved!
Good luck with trying to keep her under control by the way

Thanks - I was very relieved it wasn't a fracture or worse - I feel a tad guilty as I've had to come to work all day today, so as long as her and Eddie are not catapulting themselves round the front room from sofa to sofa while unsupervised we might be ok! ph34r
It was all so odd - fine Sunday, couldn't walk and screaming in pain Monday, to hobbling about by Tuesday
(My MIL is letting them out and checking on them any time now - it could be chaos! :lol2:)
-
Glad to here that Ruby is on the mend. Hope they were both good while you were at work.
