Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.
The error returned was:
Flood control is enabled on this board, please wait 30 seconds before replying or posting a new topic
Its driving me MAD!!! Every single time I click anywhere on the site I get this message and its sending me nuts!!!!
All I can find on the help pages is this: "If the administrator has enabled it, you may have a minimum amount of time to wait between searches, this is known as search flood control."
Surely that doesn't mean I just read and click too fast????

I couldnt see anything on your profile to cause this to happen.... strange! I'll get Stuart to have a look tomorrow, if you can bear with us until then, sorry! :D

I get this if I try to post too soon after I've already posted on another thread. I just try again a few seconds later and it always works fine then :) .

Flood Control is set at a 30 second delay - I'm assuming this is a security measure but haven't personally experienced the error message (I don't post replies that quickly ) I'm sure Stuart will explain more fully when he sees this ;)

I get it if I click on view new posts too soon after the last time i clicked it. I just wait a few secs and try again and its fine. i think its to stop spammers flooding the boards. Next time it happens, just count to 20 before trying to click anything again :)

It is indeed a security measure, and it prevents 'bots' from messing up the board. Or malicious code/spammers from posting message after message after message.
It is basically to do with the time taken between one post and another. There are other factors to consider too such as the time taken to reach the server over the net etc which will influence the posting time. It's best to post then wait a short period then post again.
Also if there are lots of users online, all posting at the same time, the forum will kick in with flood control to give itself time to handle all the requests and process them. You have to bear in mind that a forum is not like a chat room where events are handled 'real time'
If this problem is affecting too many members I'll try adjusting the time allowed between posts. But I will do so with caution and only change the setting by a couple of seconds to see if things improve.

I just whizzed through the site and then came back here to say "Wow thats great problem fixed" and then I got the error on this very page
It is loads better though - doesn't seem to be happening quite so often. Thanks Stuart :D

Ok, see how it performs over the next couple of days and if there's still the odd flood warning I'll tweak again.
