I took Livie to the vets earlier as she just hasn't seemed her self for a while & her ear, that had a grass seed in it, hasn't improved completely :'( Vet looked in 'good ear' & low & behold a grass seed was in there >:D She was a real sweetie & let him remove it but boy did she cry - made me feel quite sick to hear her cry like that ph34r He said it had pierced her ear drum :'( He also checked the original ear & said he could see something too far in to remove, so she's going in tomorrow to be sedated, when they'll remove it & check both ears for what damage has been done. For 7 years I've never had a problem with these darn things but as they say things come in 3's, hopefully this will be our lot ....especially for poor Livie :'(

The ginger one is waking up & will have a very sore ear me thinks ....they found 4 of the little devils in there :fear2: :020: .......will know more when I pick her up at 5 but they think they were imbedded in the ear canal & not the drum so paws crossed there's no to much damage :luv:

She's home safe & well but Oh so dopey - bless her :luv: ........I know it's not funny & I'm not laughing but there is a serious cuteness when they've come out of sedation :angel:
AB's for a week & continue with ear drops - ears look OK concidering :luv:
Whilst waiting for her to be bought down, I was speaking to the owner of a White German Shephard, who had one grass seed removed from it's side the other day but was back in because owner thought there was another one :'( (I passed on the fab advice in ref to Silica etc) & then as Livie came out so did a very scrummy 2 year old cocker boy, who also had been in to have a seed removed from his ear :fear2: I find it so hard to understand why I've never heard of this problem before but there's news of them everywhere now :dunno:
Mind you, it's the best diet I've ever been on ....... I lost 105pounds in 1 day :fear2: >:(

Last week it was obvious there was a problem with her ear as it was red, sore, itchy & smelt most peculiar ph34r - one seed was removed but IMO I think these 4 were in there then but just not visible due to the puss in her ear. The seed she had removed yesterday there were no signs - ear looked perfectly normal :huh:
She was quite restless in herself, a bit more irritable with Tinker & more demanding of attention :'( (you know Jan - all the kind of things that tell you that something isn't quite right but you're not sure what???) She also gets pyoderma & my first thought that this was flaring up again :-\
Know the signs to look for now as far as ears are concerned but worried about the ones on the body - so hard to see those until they're embedded & causing a lump :'( ........I'm going to be paranoid now ph34r

Aw, bless her- hope she feels better soon. Not a nice experience. :'( Cockers and springers are particularly renowned for getting seeds/awns in their ears, up their noses and even in between their toes where they can cause abscesses. (Can remember our old cocker suffering from the latter..... :016:) I believe awns can also travel through the body.....someone will correct me if I am wrong, I'm sure! :D
Hope this episode is soon forgotten by Livie anyhow - and that she doesn't get plagued again by the rotten sneaky things!!! ;)

She seems fine Wendy - thanks for asking hun ;) A little put out because the others went for a walk & she didn't (so she's stolen Tinkers new toy to get her own back :lol2: ) occasional itching of ear but guess that's because of the seeds removel?
Going to take Purdey & Tinker in to have their ears checked just in case I think ;) ......I'm a little paranoid now ph34r
